Marriage certificates, etc. used to list religion in Canada, but I do not think this is a relevant question today, especially when you're trying to identify the minority of Muslims who are jihadists. How about instead, your passport state whether or not you think 9/11 was justified.

You can read statistics of how many religious members there are in any faith. This country is xx% Islamic, Christian, Hindu, etc. So how do they know if they don't keep records?
