There will be scandals. Every government before them had then. No reason to assume this one will be any different.

Duffy and Wallin were Senators.
we can only hope for a scandal,a little one,i hope it involves love, sex, rock n roll, and drugs.
Canadians are always happy when we are reminded powerful people are just like us.
what Canadians don't like is thiefs, arrogance and liars,I hope our leaders remember this.

if anyone thinks this is shiny pony's cabinet, you're delusional.

it's the ralphie goodale (he with the red socks) and gerry butts government kids.
i don't know much about ralph goodale, but i had an encounter with him,i found him rude, arrogant and somewhat useless.
i hope i am wrong.

I was reading about Harjit earlier today...........he's one bad *** dude and has quite the back-story.

And he makes our most recent Defence Ministers look as feeble as we knew they were.....

A letter of appreciation for Sajjan's services from the commander of Canada’s Coalition Task Force in Afghanistan.

Sajjan was considered “the best single Canadian intelligence asset in [war] theater” whose "hard work, personal bravery and dogged determination undoubtedly saved a multitude of Coalition lives," according to the letter, recently obtained by National Observer.

He's further credited with providing the intelligence foundation for a military operation resulting in the "kill or capture" of 1,500 Taliban fighters.

Addressed to then-Vancouver police chief Jamie Graham, the letter from Brigadier General David Fraser thanked the chief for the loan of Detective Constable Sajjan, then a reserve officer with the Canadian Armed Forces.

It includes the following excerpts:

"Not only did [Sajjan] display a rare high level of intellect and experience in his analysis, he also demonstrated remarkable personal courage… often working in the face of the enemy to collect data and confirm his suspicions, and placing himself almost daily in situations of grave personal risk."

"[He] demonstrated a profound understanding of the Taliban and tribal networks…"

"He was the best single Canadian intelligence asset in theater, and his hard work, personal bravery and dogged determination undoubtedly saved a multitude of Coalition lives."

"Through his courage and dedication, Major Sajjan has single-handedly changed the face of intelligence gathering and analysis in Afghanistan."

"[H]is analysis was so compelling that it drove a number of large scale theatre-resourced efforts, including OPERATION MEDUSA... that resulted in the defeat of the largest TB cell yet identified in Afghanistan, with over 1500 Taliban killed or captured."

"I rate him as one of the best intelligence officers I have ever worked with."

"I have advised my chain of command that the Canadian Forces must capture his skill-set, and seek his advice on how to change our entire tactical intelligence training and architecture to best meet the needs of future deployed units fighting in extremely complex human battlespace."

Following Sajjan's second deployment in 2009, U.S. Major-General James Terry, Commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan’s southern provinces, requested that he join the U.S. Command Team for a third deployment 2010, where he served as Special Assistant to General Terry. Pictured below, Sajjan presented General Terry with a Sikh ceremonial kirpan.

Which Harper and company have been doing for what, ten years now?

How can anyone believer Harper and Company were prudent fiscal managers?

And they only existed in the first place because of a financial crisis.

Now they're up a creek and without a reformer paddle.

"The proof is in the pudding"! :)

They will be remembered for having a legacy of 6 straight deficits.

Minister of Defense:

Our new Minister of Defense took part in a documentary airing on History Channel tonight.

Canada’s new minister of national defence said he warned NATO command against a fateful 2006 Afghanistan mission that sent Canadian soldiers into an ambush where four were killed, but alliance officials ignored his warning.

Harjit Sajjan, who served in Afghanistan before being named to cabinet by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last week, also criticizes coalition forces for not doing enough to “look at the root cause” of Taliban recruitment in a documentary airing this week.

Sajjan, who was deployed three times to Afghanistan, was released from military service on Sunday and is no longer a reservist in the Canadian Armed Forces.

As a lieutenant colonel specializing in intelligence, he was involved in the prelude to a mission now known as the battle for the white school in Pashmul, Afghanistan. He said he warned against the attack plan."

Very impressive! It will be interesting to follow their performance.
A Sikh as Minister of Foreign Affairs might be good for keeping Muslim terrorists under control.

Stephane Dion is a Sikh?

I'll bet that he's really a Catlick.

Well, anyway, back to the topic .... I think Trudeau had an idea that the job he strove to get was a bit bigger than he had in mind. It seems he has chosen a few technocrats for his cabinet to compensate. I kind of like the idea of ministers having a clue about what they have for portfolios besides a pile of bureaucratic dogma and rhetoric; like a farmer with the Agriculture portfolio and a warrior for Defense minister, for instance.
