We won't save refugees by destroying our own country

Interestingly enough, we got an e-mail asking if we were willing to host a Syrian refugee in our home.

Unfortunately it's a small two-bedroom home for two with one bedroom used as my workplace so it would be cramped to add one more.

We'd considered an orphaned child refugee, not to adopt but just to host. Unfortunately it would be cramped even then.

We will probably be moving to a larger home soon enough maybe in the next year and can reconsider then if the offer should return I suppose.

Just heard on C.B.C. within the hour a request is to anyone who has a spare room or cabin or is a snowbird to welcome guests from Syria. If you are going to be out of the country for six you might REALLY want to think long and HARD about turning your house over to a bunch of refugees. IF you do, you might want to get a deposit in the amount of the approximate value of your house. Remember what happened to the folks in Calgary a few months ago and the perpetrators were Canadians (as far as I know)

Be bloody careful, get a lawyer and make sure an expiry date is carved in stone.

I've never done anything quite like this before so I'm not 100% sure of the process. But yes, we will certainly inform ourselves when the time comes.

In response to some posts above though, we're certainly not going to be choosing them based on religious expression and will certainly not be trying to impose our beliefs on them beyond just respecting house rules that would respect their religious beliefs.

One thing we would need to consider is the possibility of dealing with a guest suffering PTSD.

Then again, we have both been diagnosed with mild symptoms of PTSD ourselves which would likely help in our ability to understand them.

If the refugees are Christian, I have no problem having them come into our country, as they're more likely to assimilate. I would also prefer families and perhaps some family reunification, but not much else. Needless to say, rigorous vetting is required but that takes time and I'm worried that Trudeau won't bother because of his promise of 25,000 by the end of December. He opens his mouth without thinking and that bothers me a lot.

I'm just sad we can't take one into our home right now.

And before anyone embarks on an undertaking like that you should probably only undertake it on the condition you see a FULL medical report first. The last thing you need is a psychopath and there's probably lots of them as a result of the trauma they've been through.

Maybe. What I would be concerned about it that they may not recognize PTSD AND that they may feel their religion will cure them of it.

I got a better idea, there's probably many like minded people, possibly numbering in the hundreds if not thousands. Pool your money (what you'd be willing to spend keeping them in your house) build them a complex, hire a manager and a nurse to live in. Anyway that's just a rough idea I've come up with that others can fine tune.

stuff em' into rogers center. jays aren't using it and 25000 refugees would give the Argos a total of 31,455 "fans". Almost as much as a Riders game.

These alleged refugees are not for the most part. Young men of military age, Soros and company have decided to destabalize the EU and North America by shipping in paid agents of chaos. This is the bankers escape plan.

Don't panic on it Das. He shines a bright and shining light on his stupidity when he implies that "Jew" is a religion. Judaism is the religion and a "Jew" is a member of the Jewish Faith. But hey, what the hell. It's all the same thing, right? "They" run the world.

Understand what? So am I to believe that my thoughts about conspiracy are stupid but yours are as solid as a concrete block?
You are an enemy of free speech you hate democracy and you eat boogers.

Everyone else didn't miss the criminal charges and trials and convictions for conspiracy of the criminal nature associated with all these parties you have mentioned. Would you like several thousand pages of court transcripts to help you understand how ignorant you must be?

Hold still stop squirming while I step on you again, I like the noise you make, like a bug almost. I will leave a couple of spelling errors for you later in another post and you can gloat over that discovery as well.

who have been heard yelling "Allahu Akbar!"?

The expression or phrase of "Allahu Akbar" means: God is Most Great, or God is the Greatest more than anyone.

Muslims, and even some Christians here, exclaims: Allahu Akbar whenever they want to express that they have been wronged or to exclaim something that they extremely denounce or condemn.

erm I think if we ever decided to have anyone outside our family living here, it would be have to be someone rational enough to accept that hubby is atheist and I am agnostic as well as being bisexual. We are also are meat-eaters (including pork) and have dogs that are a part of our family.
