Elizabeth May is a remarkable person. She's done great things. Everyone likes her But it's time for her to resign.

Elizabeth May has to go, and I feel horrible saying it.

By most measures, May is a remarkable politician. She is trained in both law and theology and has written eight books. As the executive director of the Sierra Club of Canada, she was awarded an Order of Canada for her leadership in the environmental movement, and that was even before she became the Green party’s first member of Parliament.

In Ottawa, May has been far more noticeable than most MPs. She was responsible for the passage of at least one bill, and has been a consistently constructive voice of the opposition. Her critiques of the outgoing Conservative government were typically sensible, in contrast to the often melodramatic hysterics from the Liberal and NDP benches. And she led the charge against Bill C-51, the Anti-Terrorism Act. Nonetheless, May should resign. And, again, I feel terrible pointing this out.

"Scott Gilmore is a Conservative appointee to the board of the International Development Research Centre and his wife is a newly elected Liberal MP."

OH yep, bye Lizzie.

We voted Green this time round so we could say we voted.
Couldn't stomach Turd-o, Harpo, or Mully.
Lizzie's good comic relief.
Hope she hangs around.

Justin should make her Minister of the Environment. (I heard that he is considering it). I hope he does, if for no other reason than to get all the Conservative panties in a bunch.

Greens are a movement not a party plain and simple.
And no Trudeau should not put a green in his cabinet
The Liberals won and the Liberals should have the
cabinet positions. I don't want the greens anywhere
near the environment levers. We would have change
forced upon us like tyrants in a tempest
I am not convinced of the environmental human causes
climate change is just that.

I think you may be onto something there, Cliffy. There is nothing carved in stone that says Ministers must belong to the elected party! That may be news to some of the so called pundits.

Alcoholism is a terrible disease and it's time for May to deal directly with her demons.

Perhaps you could show us where it's written that May is an alcoholic! :)

I doubt if May is the source of the Party's problems. It's the nature of the party, mainly emphasis on the wrong type of "green"! :)

Elisabeth May's future is up the the Green Party. Justine has every right to put who he wants in cabinet. That's what happens when you win.

Yep, I know many people think the cabinet HAS to be made up of members of the party in power. Just ain't so! :)

The first step is overcoming denial doncha know......

I used to be a drunk but because I liked being drunk not because I had to. :) :) I decided at one point I liked money, I liked being healthy and I hated hangovers!

Doesn't even need to be a sitting MP.

I'm sure you're right, he can just pull a person off the street to do the job. He should probably pay him though. :) :)

Elizabeth who?

I have absolutely no problem with Elizabeth, she's probably about the most human politician we have and I like the woman, she's clever and she's articulate (when she's sober). She just has a one track hangup and I don't think we'd get a good return on the dollar if she was running the show.

There would be nothing but gigantic upside to that happening... It would signal the end of the Green Party and likely the demise of May herself.

I say, make it happen sooner rather than later
