The economy is good?
What world do you live in?
Well it worked sooo well for you guys.
Alabama has zero geo-political value and not much for resources, unless you're a fan of jambalaya and gumbo.
Dixie, I don't understand how you can have 'Libertarian' in your avatar yet appear to support C-51. The 2 just do not go together.
The attitude of OSCs?
For example, any of the OSCs who were born after the social welfare systems were put into place are in precisely the same position when they hit 17 or 18: they have contributed nothing to the system, yet they are free to use it. But no-one is using terminology designed to exclude them.
For that matter, in many ways immigrants are a net benefit to Canada. Many of them received their education on somebody else's dime. Then they come to Canada and use those educations to provide goods and services to Old Stock Canadians who sneer at them for "not contributing."
Pretty nasty, really. Especially in a country reputed to be so polite.
Ah. I see. Sorry, I was under the mistaken impression they were for the body politic. The young generations 'old stock Canadians'' are the ones for whom the pioneers worked to make a future. Therefore the services are for them.
Works for me. Need an ambulance? Have your credit card out. Get robbed? Better write out the check for the police in advance. Want your kids educated? Pay up, cash on the barrelhead. House catch on fire? VISA, Mastercard, or let it burn. What's wrong with newcomers paying for their services for a specified time BEFORE they get to use it for free? Allowing them to come in and use our services for free is like putting them on welfare. They are benefitting at the expense of the 'old stock Canadians'.
I agree there. Let 'em starve by the side of the road.Especially offensive is the paying of old age security to the parents and grandparents brought in by immigrants who will never contribute but will take more than the younger immigrants even, due to their age.
Oh, okay, I suppose I should have prefaced it with - compared to the rest of the world, absolutely. Could it be better? Yes. Can Trudeau make it better - no, nor could Mulcair. Harper was our better bet.
Government can only do 3 things: Tax, Regulate and Intervene - they CANNOT "create" jobs like so many of the politicos state (unless it means increasing the size of government) and all 3 parties are guilty of making that statement.
Who creates the jobs? It's investors, risk takers (mostly small time) and businesses that can create jobs. The government can only create the environment that encourages these individual(s) to do what they do best - invest and grow/expand.
What Trudeau wants to do is tax, regulate and intervene so that it makes it difficult to do business which, in turn, results in higher taxes and costs to the consumer - it's a vicious circle. Regulations can be good but too many are bad which, again, results in higher consumer products and taxes. And of course, over spending results in higher taxes when the debt increases. All in all, all of these things end up costing jobs and does nothing for creating them - unless, of course, you increase the size of government and on it goes.
I almost laughed myself silly when Trudeau stated that he was going to increase taxes on the uber rich (or the 1%) of which he is one. I guess he really thought (and maybe he was right) that everyone would believe that this will really solve whatever problem he figures we have...the rich (not unlike himself) can afford to hire the best Accountants and do what they can do to reduce the amount of taxes paid. Its the middle class that can't afford to do the same. It boggles the mind, quite frankly.
But I guess being a "super star" is more important than having any substantive ideas. It's going to be interesting, that's for sure!
JMHO
How is it that C-51 has affected your life? It hasn't mine and likely won't. So maybe I'm only 99% Libertarian - ya think?

And not for the better in the next four years. You have it nailed bang on!
The frenzy for 'change' quite frankly scares the hell out of me! Look around the world, you'll find that Canada is a darned good place to be. Most people really like it the way it is.
There's never going to be a state of perfection. Human nature makes that impossible. But I really can't see how anything could be better than we Canadians have it right now compared with the rest of the world.
I fear that will soon change!

But when you set these policies, I do have one suggestion. Maybe you could let people know in advance that this is the deal? I mean, it's only fair.
Geez, Cliffy......................your hatred of Mr Harper knows no bounds, does it. The man is gone all ready.
Absolutely, I'm sure Justin has that near the top of his list.;-)

Just mark on your calendar to interview Cliffy in one year to get his opinion about Mr. Harper. It will be "new and improved, I'm sure!
Nothing to do with hate, my dear and everything to do with whatever hits my funny bone at the time. Anyway, it has more to do with the sheeple that are still butt hurt that he is gone than Harper himself.Geez, Cliffy......................your hatred of Mr Harper knows no bounds, does it.
