A note by prime minister-designate Justin Trudeau is for sale on online auction site eBay. In 2013, Trudeau, then running for the Liberal Party leadership, answered a note passed to him from a Conservative Party supporter while on a plane from Halifax to Ottawa.

The note read, "Justin, Can you really beat Harper?"

"About twenty minutes later the note came back and it said, 'Mike, Just watch me,'" Kydd said. Trudeau was referencing his father Pierre Trudeau's famous words during the October Crisis.

Now that Justin's in the kiss n' cry, and Stevie Minion's gone back to wherever minions go, there is one thing I was wondering. . .

Can Francophones be Old Stock Canadians, or do they get lumped in with all the non-whi. . . um. . . non-Old Stock Canadians?

The French have a very similar expression to "Old Stock" that literally tells of their ethnic purity and it goes way beyond the vagueness of Old Stock. A pureblood Québécois is "Pur Laine" literally, pure wool and a whole lot of them feel that I puts them way above he rest of us "newcomers", who followed them 50 years later. It is a widespread view, BTW not just a fringe thing.

'Harper awoke a sleeping giant': First Nations break election records

Monday’s election was historic for Canada’s First Nations community, which saw 10 indigenous MPs elected.
Winners included Liberals Vance Badawey, who was elected in Niagara Centre, and Yvonne Jones, who was re-elected in Labrador.
The election also saw a record-breaking 54 indigenous candidates run for office.

Left to right, Grand Chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs Derek Nepinak, Grand Chief of Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Sheila North Wilson, and Kevin Hart, Manitoba regional chief with the Assembly of First Nations, speak at the Assembly of Manitoba's Chiefs' office in Winnipeg, on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015.

Each candidate ran in one of the 51 swing ridings identified by Assembly of First Nations Chief Perry Bellegarde, where he said the aboriginal vote could make a difference between a majority and minority government.

The attitude of OSCs?

For example, any of the OSCs who were born after the social welfare systems were put into place are in precisely the same position when they hit 17 or 18: they have contributed nothing to the system, yet they are free to use it. But no-one is using terminology designed to exclude them.

For that matter, in many ways immigrants are a net benefit to Canada. Many of them received their education on somebody else's dime. Then they come to Canada and use those educations to provide goods and services to Old Stock Canadians who sneer at them for "not contributing."

Pretty nasty, really. Especially in a country reputed to be so polite.

But a lot of those immigrants are a different colour....just sayin'

No need to get upset. It won't help. Just relax and enjoy the fact our new PM isn't eager to take your rights away. You'll begin to feel better, I promise.

I'm just peachy there sock man. been laid twice today and had steaks for supper.
