Sowing hate I'd say.

Nevertheless... why would you throw up that article when there are so many questions, so many holes. Needed to get it out dincha?

Anywho.... Hate on ya'll!

Sowing hate? I can't make you feel anything you don't want to feel. I also can't force you to behave in a manner that is not already inside you. You can pass the blame all you like, it's the religious thing to do, but I'm not sticking my hand out to take it.

Unlike some here, I know that I can't think of every possibility or every contingency or see every mistep in an article, news story or scholarly paper, so I come here to see what you all see that I might have missed.

See? I know I'm not brilliant. I know I have stuff to learn. Unlike some who think they are super brainiacs and intellectual giants.

Freud and Jung would have a field day with those two "minds".

I often think what people I hold in high esteem would say about things said. My dad's opinions come to mind first. Jung and Freud second. I'm also keen on Oliver Sacks opinions on mental conditions. Have you read anything by him? He's got a interesting perspective and humour.

Whatever Twila... really... it's cool.

And even though you probably got a reaction from us as expected another one (who in this case aligns with you) is saying we are heading back to the Spanish Inquisition. Seriously... after reading this post she says we're heading back to those times!

I'm not looking for the reaction. I'm looking for the details. the emotional knee jerk reaction here is frustrating. It's not my intent to encourage it.

What goes on in your mind? thats more interesting then your over emotional response. I've stated it several times here, especially when I first came back here. I just want to hear what you all think about something. If you all want to resort to assuming, projecting, making stuff up about others, and go about name calling, I can do nothing about it. I can only ignore it. But there are some here who enjoy discussing things still. Few, but some.

Whether you believe me or not, is irrelevant. If you, ES want to discuss things with me, I'm super happy about that. If you want to assume you know what I'm thinking, project motives to my posts that come from YOUR head and ignore when I tell you you're wrong, fine. Carry on.

Crack open a history book or they aren't being truthful? Should I ask the writers of zeitgeist or other YouTube malarkey?

seriously what train of thought are you riding here? Are you looking to simply verbally spar?

Want the reality of it? The real separation of Church and State? I'll fill you in if you ask nicely.
Not YOUR version of what it means, but thanks.
What Jefferson wrote to some Baptist dude: "Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church and State."

Prior to the formation of the US Govt who handled admin, tax collecting, census, birth records, death records, education, health etc etc etc?

Can you explain why Congress still has a Chaplain?

Meet the latest. He opens Congress with a prayer....

You like Wiki that much, here ya go - the entire first section is about the history of the concept: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separation_of_church_and_state

..... and; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaplain_of_the_United_States_Senate

and; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaplain_of_the_United_States_House_of_Representatives

and anyone can pray. Big deal. Prayers are no guarantee of anything and probably fall on ears that don't give 2 shtts, even if the ears exist.

Well that seemed to be one of the major issues in the article... somebody heard another's prayer. And it was a Christian prayer!

I assure you if a prayer rug was rolled out it certainly wouldn't be on the news.

That's a hot pa-day-duh

It sounded to me as if the woman was subjected to crap that she wasn't even looking for, though. It wasn't just prayer. She wanted help with looking after her kids and got Sunday School classes and her kids stolen instead. If it were just that someone rolled out a prayer rug and prayed in front of her, I think she'd probably wait until they finished praying and proceed to get her "counselling".
