I love this woman. Standing up for her beliefs and principles. Marriage should be only between a man and a woman and if more people took her stance and took a stand against it - if thousands upon thousands kept taking to the streets every week in protest against it - then Western governments will change their ludicrous and wrong gay marriage laws that almost nobody wanted and re-outlaw gay marriage.

Nothing will change western governance at this point in time. They are fully committed and past the point of return. The construction has no reverse gear train, sucessful war must follow, or they go down. There is always the promise of their long confinment to chains. As you know this issue is a circus side show designed to bolster feelings of advanced human benevolence on the home fronts while on other shores we murder rape and pillage with impunity. The objects of this show are consigned to permanent dis-ease among the majority nothing would be different if their affliction were to be four arms or two heads, there is a mold they do not fit. They are human and as such deserve the comforts of law, but they lust after loftier powers driven by the ring masters to ever lower outrages.

Governments have nothing to do with gay marriage. This is a legal human rights issue that was decided by the courts. If you have a prejudice against people have equal rights, that is your problem. In India, men can marry a dog and presumably, any other animal. Stop using the bible as an excuse to be a narrow minded bigot.

You think that bombing the crap out of other countries, killing thousands of innocents and creating millions of refugees is a liberal endeavor?

You know I don't. But they do because they have told themselves they are delivering the rule of law and the benifits of western democratic institutions, things they no longer have and very likely never did.

Whose they? I agree that, to some degree, the gay marriage issue is a smoke screen to divert attention away from the real issues that affect the world, but I don't see gay marriage as anything other than equal rights. Who cares what consenting adults do? Meanwhile, nobody notices that pedophiles are lobbying to get their sexual preference legalized.

Pedophiles are entitled to their sexual preferences too. Right up to the point they act upon it. Then they are entitled to a speedy execution.

I see Waltard has given up on debate and gone back to handing out reddies by the fistful.

Good move, Waltard. This thread demonstrates clearly that you're too stupid and cowardly for debate. Clicking the thumbs-down button is just right for your intelligence level.

So a gay marriage is the same as a hetero marriage, I don't think so, in any case equal rights afforded by man to other men do not supercede the laws of nature. Certainly you don't want to question natural law duu youuuu Cliffy? You should take council of the birds and the bees and the sugar maple trees.

You got lots of gays getting married in the U.K., are you out protesting in the street there?

Are you kidding? Anti-gay protests will be met with tens of thousands of riot police to quell them, who suddenly magically appeared from nowhere after being nowhere to be seen the last time Muzzies marched down the street calling for the beheading of British soldiers.

Meh, Blackie is just an ignorant WASP.

And a proud heterosexual one at that who believes, like millions of people do, that marriage should be merely between a man and a woman.

Sounds like Trump. Yerrrrrrr,,,,FIRED!
I resent that. I am far prettier (smarter, too) and I don't have weird hair. :D

Problem is, she doesn't have an employer. Her job is an elective office.
Voters can't fire her? geeez Maybe make her quit then?

It's OK, I'm perfectly good with her sitting in jail.
Still costing taxpayers.

Congratulations, that's the most intelligent post coming from you yet. Lots would disagree but political correctness isn't one of my fortes. :)

Marriage is over-rated. If given our "druthers" to do over again, we'd just shack up and bypass the marriage thing.
At any rate, this dumb chick is typically invasive and aggressive. Can't keep her beak out of other people's business.

You just reminded me of a favourite quote from one of my all-time favourite people: "It is a far, far better thing to have a firm anchor in nonsense than to put out on the troubled seas of thought."
John K Galbraith

I think I'll add it to the quotes thread

I tend to agree. These days it seems most people put effort into the wedding than into the marriage. Being married for 42 years I do see one aspect that may be a bit of an advantage. If something happens to me whether it's death or incapacitation my wife is probably better looked after than had we been shacked up. (Considering the price of an average "shack" these days, a little more dignified term might be in order) By law everything of mine is half hers which I would think reduces a lot of red tape later.

Same thing with common law now. Six months of keeping your bed warm and she is entitled to half of your possessions and none of your debts. Or hers.
