The rescue mission is not a government agency.

Agreed. They can though, create the conditions under which investors will set up shop, here and thus put more people to work. It works from time-to-time. Lower corporate tax rates help, some. We see jobs leaving here, like a whole GM shift from Oshawa (to Michigan) because some other jurisdiction has done a better job of luring investment.

What do you expect when you hit rock bottom, there's no other place to go but up.

8 years of rock bottom, and now they he's leaving, businesses are hiring again.
That's Boomster for you. Losing jobs under Harper (or Putin) is better than gaining jobs under Obama.

"Verily I say unto thee, do not giveth to the poor, I mean look at them. They're filthy, cause disturbances, is that one smoking? They're just a buncha freeloaders. I'm a TAXPAYER. Where's my ****ing handout?" - Jesus H. Christ.

$400 a month for cigarettes out of $700 = homeless

Does no one roll their own anymore at less than half the cost? I remember the day when Tailor mades were a luxury.

your sarcasm is based on ignorance. No one says don't help the poor,,on the contrary, help the poor in ways that make a difference. I swear some folks behave as if stupidity were a virtue, (A line from Hardy Krugar in the movie, "Flight of the Phoenix".)

Wait a minute,,,,I am the poor.LOL

No one says don't help the poor,

Oh no, of course not. They would never say anything like that. They just pretend they're helping them by insulting them and kicking them down. That's the only way their conscience can reconcile their visceral hatred of the poor.

There is no book of Obligations. Are you a Christian, JLM? Sorry, I shouldn't assume.

I understand that there are lay-offs in the oil field but every day I hear of companies who are hiring. They're good jobs - not service sector jobs either. Jobs that pay well, have overtime (which is something else considering) with benefits. Some companies will train and are recruiting both men and women for these higher paying jobs (and yes, some are unionized).

A co-workers husband was laid off and looking for work. Sent out tons of resumes and not getting any responses. I gave her a list of companies who were looking and actively advertising for workers. All he needed to do is get his Class 3 license and he was working the day after he finished getting it. EI paid for the course. Now his new employer is going to send him on a crane course which means when he's finished he'll be making even more money. You see, he's willing to go the extra mile to ensure he becomes a valuable employee, building on the skills he already had.

There are jobs out there - just have to look and listen. If you don't have the skills, get them! EI will pay for the course if it means a job.

people choose to take on an attitude about certain things and regardless of the facts they still choose to maintain that same attitude because maybe it feels good to generalize about S**t. Listening seems to take a back seat to hey,,,,I'm thinkin this and I'm gonna stay thinkin like this cause I choose to think you feel this way because it how I think you believe. Sheesh. Allow me to dismiss this one.

I'm 110% Christian.
Then maybe you'd agree with someone who said, if a man will not work, he will not eat. I'll not quote chapter and verse on that one because unlike you as a Christian, I don't share this belief.
