Because we don't cover dental which is self managed.

Brush three times a day, floss and don't smoke crack or meth.

Oh I don't know, you still need basic checkups and whatnot. Even that is cost prohibitive if you don't have a dental plan.

No he hasn't.

Because of their substantial overlap in concept, dentistry is often also understood to subsume the now largely defunct medical specialty of stomatology (the study of the mouth and its disorders and diseases) for which reason the two terms are used interchangeably in certain regions.

Even if you have no teeth, it's a good idea to see a dentist once in awhile - if you have no gums then it doesn't matter!:) :)

I thought Das just proved it! :)
you two are arguing at cross purposes so both of you are technically correct

health care does not cover dental...dental care is separate...my OHIP card does not allow me to go to the dentist

however

tooth, mouth and gum health are tied to your over all health and well being

a doctor is not a dentist, and a dentist is not a medical doctor but they both work together to keep us healthy wealthy and wise

It's always helps to read the story first .........

Alheli Picazo is a writer and former elite gymnast based in Calgary, Alberta, who has struggled with a serious disease called ulcerative colitis. Though she was able to get the condition under control by having her large intestine removed, she's still suffering from one major aftereffect: the bones in her mouth have eroded painfully.

If health care is free in Canada, why can't this woman afford surgery? - Vox

Jibrat. That is why it went undiagnosed. Nobody could tell the difference.

Northern Ontario,
I thought Das just proved it! :)
The procedure I had done, back in the 70's was covered, probably because it was done under general anesthetic in a hospital, not in the dentist's office,
Now they even do implants right in the dentist's office.....not covered by medical.
My wife had the similar thing done years later in the dentist's office....not covered
By the way, wisdom teeth done in the hospital back then....covered!
