Oddly, the Repubs didn't applause when he said this.........

"21st century businesses need 21st century infrastructure – modern ports, stronger bridges, faster trains and the fastest internet. Democrats and Republicans used to agree on this. So let’s set our sights higher than a single oil pipeline. Let’s pass a bipartisan infrastructure plan that could create more than thirty times as many jobs per year, and make this country stronger for decades to come."

No, they're not gonna clap for that one...............

Northern Ontario,
The Republicans have been a basket case ever since Sara Palin showed up.
Respectable Republicans have been trying to regain control of the party ever
since. Yes Obama did win two in a row and the next campaign will likely go to
the Democrats as well. The major cities and large population areas are more
Democrat and the cycle of mid terms where they punish the government will
be history. The American people will rally around hope over fear and when
that happens the GOP is out of luck. I didn't see it as a taunt it was a fact he
did win two in a row and primarily because the legitimate Republicans were
overshadowed by a act that was just nuts. The Donald, Michelle what's her
face, and the rest of the hangers on.

Thank you red ink Wally I must be on the right path
After 6 years you still have Palin on your mind ????

They aren't going to clap for anything President Osama says. Just like the Dumbocrats weren't going to clap for anything President Shrub said. Partisan politics is an us/them hate game. Just like school rivalries.

Seriously, it's time and past time to wake up.

Obama is America's first post-Constitutional president. Ruling by edict and decree gives Obama a special place. He's established a new precedent in executive rule.

No, Presidents started doing that sort of thing before Obama was even born.

If you want him to run off stage mention the ears.
Perhaps it was canned applause just to allow him to get that part in?

I didin't watch the speech and don't intend to; from what I've read today he said things I expected to hear already.

Two big things though out of the speech: his response to the hecklers was spot on.

He mentioned not only gays and lesbians but bisexuals and transgendered people when speaking of condeming people due to who or what they are.

For that alone I say good on him.

Now if he just upholds the rest of the speech...

Minnesota: Gopher State
KEY PROPOSALS FROM PRESIDENT OBAMA'S STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

  • TAX HIKES: Raise the capital gains rate on couples with incomes above $500,000 to 28 percent and eliminate a tax break on inheritances.

  • He also proposed anew fee on roughly 100 massive financial firms with assets exceeding $50 billion. The administration estimates these changes would generate $320 billion over a decade.

  • TAX BREAKS: Create a $500 tax credit for families with an annual income up to $210,000. Expand the child care credit to up to $3,000 per child under age 5. Offer the Earned Income Tax Credit to childless workers and noncustodial parents.

  • RETIREMENT SAVINGS: Boost retirement savings by automatically enrolling people without access to a workplace retirement plan in an Individual Retirement Account.

  • TERRORISM: Urge Congress to pass a new Authorization for Use of Military Force Agreement against the Islamic State group and other extremist groups.

  • CUBA: Obama wants Congress to lift the economic embargo on Cuba

  • IRAN: Vow to veto new sanctions on Iran while world powers pursue nuclear talks.

  • TRADE: Ask Congress for so-called 'fast track' trade promotion authority to allow an up-or-down vote on trade pacts.

  • CYBERSECURITY: Call for legislation enabling information-sharing between the private sector and U.S. agencies like the Homeland Security Department.

SOURCE: AP

Well can't say it's all bad... looks sorta interesting.

Still think he has no balls as a leader, and next time he should smoke some BC weed before he does a State of The Union address.

Some good, some bullshtt.

First, as I have said before and will say again - there is no need to raise taxes as closing the foreign tax shelters will raise FAR more revenue and will not give right wing delusionals any excuse about the "stifling" of job growth or obstruction to business expansion.

As for IRA's, people have enough options for retirement accounts and there is no need to impose this system on anyone.

Authorization for more war? Utter bullshtt and appeasement of the pro war crowd.

Lift embargo on Cuba - smart move and will generate billions in revenue for both countries.

Fcuk the embargo on Iran - what goes on there is none of goddamn business.

Further promotion of trade and increased cyber security - good ideas.

Grumpy why don't you finally admit that you have no idea what you are talking about.

You know absolutely nothing about the US and US politics as the last elections proved. Any dingbat could predict the last two presidential elections. However because you have a hard on for Obama and the US Democrats your predictions of the fall of the GOP have been wrong year after year.

You don't even realize that you are a lot more in line with the GOP than the Democrats and Obama. US Democrats would consider you far right and a racist reading the stuff you post in here.

The Republicans have been a basket case ever since Sara Palin showed up.

And they kicked the SNOT out of the Democrats in November B*TCH!

Flushed them right out of Congress and now have the biggest majority since what, the 1930s.

You don't know a thing.
