Woman accidentally shot dead by 2 year old boy at Idaho Wal-Mart

A two-year-old boy has accidentally shot dead a woman at a Walmart store after a gun fired when he reached in her purse.

The woman was shopping with several children, and it is unclear how she is related to the boy, Kootenai County sheriff's spokesman Lieutenant Stu Miller said.

Authorities originally said the toddler was the woman's son.

The shooting in Hayden, Idaho, about 40 miles (64km) northeast of Spokane, Washington, occurred in the back of the store near the electronics department.

"Prelim investigation shows shooting was accidental," Lt Miller posted on Twitter.

He said the victim was in her late 20s.

The store closed after the shooting.

The woman had a permit to carry a concealed weapon, deputies said.

He probably won't remember it unless people keep telling him he should feel guilty. I can't recall anything before I was 5.

What the heck is wrong with this picture that people living in a modern civilised country think it's necessary or even appropriate to go shopping with your toddler with a loaded and cocked firearm in your stupid purse?

Why would you consider your surroundings so dangerous so as to feel it necessary to go about strapped up and then take your two year old into that environment. Surely logic would dictate if the environment you inhabit is that dangerous you carry a weapon as a safety concern, you should consider changing tactics when children enter your life and move the hell out of the crappy place!

I don't get this stuff at all. Rational human beings sitting down at the supper table considering starting a family would surely have discussed the oxymoronic nature of feeling it necessary to carry a weapon ready to fire and at the same time "but let's have a child and continue living in this manner regardless". Cripes!

Selfishness knows no bounds to some people "Oh, I like my little .380 and the feeling of security it gives me" now she's turned her kid into an unwitting taker of his mother's life. Moronic in the extreme and far too late for her to be given "her sign".

Poor training.

There are many safe ways to carry a gun in a purse.

Quite true. But who fukking needs a gun at WalMart?
Who wants to live in a world where you need a gun at WalMart?
A good way to create a world where you need a gun at WalMart is to take guns to WalMart.
Guns are completely stupid.

Have you ever BEEN to WalMart? I wouldn't go there with less than a flamethrower.

a full body condom and a great camera is all you need. If you get hungry from all that shooting, head over to Denny's for the full walmart dining experience

a bit of hope

I have only recently begun to go to Walmart more regularly....they had to clean it up...f*cking cookies left on shelves here and it smelled bad...the new one down the street from me is a mini Walmart...I forget the name for those but it's so small they don't have greeters and the lighting is good...I don't buy much there though...

my NutriBullet is close to biting the dust so I went there the other day to price it....it mostly has people who live in the area so it's fine

the big one at the other end of town has more interesting people mid afternoon...I just don't have patience for that stuff and I'm not a shopper to begin with

Haven't been to Wally Werld in ages-no real deals @ the one in Cap Mall that I can see.
so far it looks like my Nutribullet might be cheaper by about $30.00 but I have to check a few other places first

Wouldn't a pistol with one in the chamber and the safety off be the only way a 2 year old could pull a trigger. ? Double action revolver
would require a more muscular finger..............eh ?

Sounds like Darwin had a hand in this.

I personally carry mine using an inside gun holster..

Safety always on, and yes always one in the chamber. Further the holster ensures the safety stays on.

...and if I need to use it, I am trained and a dam good shot. ;)

Because one was in the chamber the trigger was probably a two lb pull vs if there was not one in the chamber the trigger would be a 10 lb pull and harder for a child to shoot.
