Does anybody know if we could actually move to proportional representation without opening up the charter? Or it surviving a supreme court challenge?
It Is Neck and Neck as We Head into Election Year
Have you guys seen the latest interview Harper had with Mansbridge?
He looked pretty shakey - especially on the volatility of oil.
If it doesn't bounce back, there is a strong possibility that a number of major producers will be eaten up by foreign investment.
Scary ****.
and oil crashing has what to do with Harper? Are you implying that Justin could do something about it?
Well it definitely raises the question of a carbon tax.
There was an economist panel on CBC and the discussion is now about moving forward into a post fossil fuel economy.

Number one reason oil is less expensive is Econ 101, supply and demand. The US has almost doubled its output in the last five years because of fracking. Ain't got poop to do with Saudi Arabia.Harper is pretty important but I doubt if he's that important. I think I heard Saudi Arabia is the culprit.

Plenty of Lieberal majorities with simular numbers (around 40%). Probably can count on 1 hand the number of governments who were a "true majority" with over 50% of the popular vote since a 3rd party was introduced. Last one was Muldune over Turner in 1984.

TWO since the end of the Second World War. Only Diefenbaker and Mulroney ruled with 50% plus of the vote.
No, Trudeau never did. Close, but no cigar
Are you saying Trudeau never had a majority government? If you are, you are wrong.

You're embarrassing yourself again Colpy
No, I'm saying Trudeau never got 50% of the vote.
If he got over fifty percent of the seats, what does it matter? Diefenbaker may have got 50 percent of the vote but he was out of office in what, eighteen months. Mulroney got big numbers, but he just about destroyed the PC party.
