What would you add to silly pictures? Oh yeah, your mouth. Join up with Cliffy.

read what you wrote back to yourself... ask yourself if you could have raised a similar concern over the image used without lowering yourself to the multiple insults you included.

Better to ship it by train.

cause pipelines have never spilled and tankers have never run-around/leaked... right? I could have dropped you a few gem images but, uhhh... why pile on, hey!

How many people have been vaporized by a pipeline. Of the three modes of land transport [Truck Train Pipeline]

Pipeline is the safest.

It seems like more of a clerical error in the original junction than any vindication of the protestors' cause. I'm surp[rised the opposition is so vehement actually. Vancouver thing maybe. Then there's the gall of having these guys chopping down tress and drilling boreholes in a city park. Still, the existing pipeline has been there a long time. There used to be three or four refinereis in the area actually. Just Chevron is left now--I'm surpised they can make a buck, because the refinery is tiny.

Reminds a lot of the War in the Woods when I first moved to BC. Lots of heat, not much light.

safe... for who/what? I put an emphasis on tanker traffic with my earlier post... whether Trans Mountain or Northern Gateway, legitimate concerns exist as to what a major tanker spill could mean in either case. Given the influence Harper Conservatives have brought forward, rightly understood/perceived or not, there is widespread distrust that risk is not being properly assessed and that the process is being "jimmied" in favour of industry over any consideration/concerns for the environment. There's been no attempt to win the so-called "hearts & minds" of a significant number of the general populace who hold doubts and uncertainties..... I'm not talking about the die-hard owl-toque wearing protestors here...

You really are a first rate Kool Aid drinker. The Liberals would be supporting this initiative if they were in power. And btw there Waldo, I said it to Cliffy already, but I'll say it to you. That new fangled thing your blathering away on, the computer or iPad or Mac is made out of Petroleum Products. The juice it runs on isn't fairy dust pal, probably comes via nuclear or coal fire or some other carbon emmitting electro-power. Even the wires that deliver it are made from petroleum products. That Welfare check you're receiving, was brought to you by hard working tax payers who drove their automobiles to their job. You should look that up after you shut off your PC/Mac and then ride your bicycle to it.

Just kidding, I'm sure you got some sort of gig going on.

no - protestors are concerned over the expansion proposal that, per the Kinder Morgan formal NEB submission, would see increased tanker traffic through the Salish Sea and Burrard Inlet: from existing ~60 tankers per year, to proposed ~410 tankers per year:

protestors are also concerned that Kinder Morgan hasn't been upfront with it's extended secondary expansion plans... those not appearing within the formal NEB submission/review process; specifically:
- per the NEB submission, capacity expansion intended is stated as an increase of 540,000 barrels a day... from the existing 350,000 barrels a day on the 60 year-old original line, to an additional 540,000 barrels a day on the new pipeline => for a total capacity of 890,000 barrels a day.

- in truth, as Kinder Morgan has finally acknowledged, the designed capacity of the new pipeline is 780,000 barrels a day... 240,000 barrels a day capacity more than is being applied for in the current NEB submission. When Kinder Morgan opts to increase to the max capacity design level, a convenient "loop-hole" in the NEB Act will allow Kinder Morgan to avoid any additional environmental assessment and public interest scrutiny on this additional 240,000 barrels a day capacity. Of course, in order to export that additional design capacity, it would either mean a further increase in tanker numbers per year of the current sized "Aframax class (120,000 dwt) tankers".... or... an increase in tanker size to the "Suezmax class (200,000 dwt) tankers", which would require dredging of Burrard Inlet, something Kinder Morgan already has designs on.

I'm in. When can we start digging? This will be a union job, right?

I care because I have grandchildren and I want them to have at least as good a lifestyle as I do and not have to revert to living in dank huts and caves and having to cook over an open fire.

Not much point in seeking alternatives to fossil fuels if money is still being made from it.

I agree and more to the point there is no value in leaving them in the ground if there is a viable alternative on the horizon. While some alternative power sources will work in certain locations/ applications nothing will replace fossil fuels for my kind of work short of Mr. Fusion being built.

Well there's a company in Burnaby well on it's way to making that dream a reality.

I'm beginning to wonder if the judges these day don't have the same mentality as the tree huggers.

In the article I read, the judge ordered the GPS coordinates to be adjusted to reflect reality. Should your neighbor be able to charge you with trespassing while you stand on your front porch? Is there something the article was missing? It also said the criminal charges for assault and obstruction of justice haven't been reversed.

This hardly seems like the encouragement of eco-terrorism that others seem to be suggesting.
