lol...or swallowed...actually you don't need drugs to do that...but you do have to lose the fear aspect which means setting ego aside, I think that is the part that holds most back..."will to survive"...lolMusta been quite some shyte he was smoking...lol

I just read a news article concerning psychiatric drugs (sedatives and anxiolytics) and the 90,000 ER visits they precipitate in the U.S. annually. I wonder what kind of stats Canada is reporting. Why are so many living in developed nations so wound up and over-medicated?
No, no me-ness at the highest point of connection. At lesser levels, like microscopic vision, there is an awareness of an observer but the ego Cliff ceases to have meaning.question Cliffy about that experience:
did you find you were all and everything was you...like there are no boundaries it all flows but there is still a distinct feeling of me (ness)?
okay Cliffy thanks...haven't been to that level yet...and frankly didn't even mean to go to the level I reached...did it only accidentally while exploring and questioning possibilitiesNo, no me-ness at the highest point of connection. And the best trips are the accidental ones. I admit to having done a lot of acid in my day but I have been far beyond that in aboriginal spiritual ceremony. Acid is a window that closes when you come down. It shows possibilities. My teacher took me trough the door and allowed me to live on the other side of this veil of lies we live in.okay Cliffy thanks...haven't been to that level yet...and frankly didn't even mean to go to the level I reached...did it only accidentally while exploring and questioning possibilities
lol...here let me start a list of why I think it is happening...a belief that medication can do for you what you can not do for yourself
wanna add to the list
- no ability to spend time alone with themselves so always with others
- no desire to balance themselves
- avoidance of time to reflect
- a confusion about what matters in life or has value
- at a loss as to how to connect on a deep level with other human beings (intimacy)
- a me first attitude that is reinforced by society that says you aren't soft, you are tough and take what you need for yourself
- inability to be present in the here and now, focusing on what was or what might be
what are your thoughts Motar?
what a wonderful opportunity you've been given with aboriginal spiritual ceremony...And the best trips are the accidental ones. EVERYthing we need to live in peace is either inside or presented to us via people who come into our world...recognizing that and then responding is our life challenge.Albrecht's theory of social intelligence comes to mind, Sal. There is more to human intelligence than IQ and a head full of facts. The social and emotional competences cannot be gleaned from a textbook.

A certain amount of detachment is required. I live in this world but I am not affected by the negativity. I am open to people normally. I trust in their good side... until they show me their true self. If they are users, I back off and protect myself from their negativity. Here's an odd and potentially negative question. Is it possible to live on the other side of the veil in todays world? Amongst our friends and such with out being damaged, and abused by others?
How do you keep pride from rearing it's ugly head?
I can see where that question's leading. Short answer: no. Longer answer: I'm a materialist in this context, which means I believe matter and its interactions are the fundamental reality, so what we call "mind" must at least in principle be explicable in those terms, because that's all there is.Having considered Karl Albrecht's theory of social intelligence, do you think there might be something more to human intelligence than just synapses and neurotransmitters, Dex?
this reminds me of a couple of books I read in the 70's The Tao of Physics, and Kundalinni by Gopi Krisna.Epiphany and ecstasy do not necessarily have anything to do with religion or spirituality. Sometimes, in a heightened state of awareness the ego steps aside and we can experience pure consciousness, we experience the connection between all living thing, the interconnectedness, the oneness of all life. I have witnessed a tree cease to be just bark, leaves and wood and become pure flowing energy. I have seen an entire forest, with all its bio diversity disolve into pure flowing energy. While staring at a bumble bee, I sundenly had microscopic vision and traveled down to the atomic, then sub atomic level and I've traveled out through our solar system (and that one I shared with two companions). Guess what? No gods, no angels, no fairies or unicorns.
i think quantum physics is doing just that. It's only a matter of time before science claims discovery of sub atomic mind particles?

The ancient axiom is wrong, and there's plenty of evidence from neuroscience that the mind is a manifestation of physical activity--matter and energy interacting--in the brain. Electromagnetic stimulation of brain tissue can evoke very specific memories and physical injury to the brain clearly can affect the mind. You could hardly ask for clearer evidence than that, but as usual, just as your understanding of physics hasn't progressed beyond Maxwell's equations for electromagnetism, your knowledge of the science is at least a century out of date. And if you're citing fictitious Egyptian deities like Horus, maybe 5000 years would be a better estimate of how far behind you are.
