President Obama expressed deep concern. Wow, I'm relieved, the manthing is concerned.
And the responce will be left to the next President.
Personally, however, I think this conflict will, by the end of the year, escalate into WWIII, involving millions of drafted troops, sailors and airmen from all the world's major powers, nuclear weapons, and the deaths of hundreds of millions of people across Europe with vast swathes of the continent, particularly in the east, left uninhabitable for the next 25,000 years.
Your post pretty much eliminates any doubt about you being a troll and nothing but a troll. That's okay because the stuff you post should be taken with a grain of salt and just the opposite of what you say would also apply, such as in your post. True NATO could make the place a wasteland so it could be true but when a (known) troll posts it the message means you won't try and protect Crimea because you would be turned into a wasteland just as you describe. If Russian troops are in there to 'stabilize the area' then why are there no NATO troops in the rest of the Nation to do the same or is that considered to be stable at this very moment?
Or NATO and friends will do nothing, just like they are doing now. People will catch on that they are a Media Army rather than being able to just up and do something when action is called for.
Notice when help is asked for it doesn't even have to wait for the deadline date. ( May 25 in this case but Syrian chemical weapons is another example, the US gave them 6 months, it took them a week to list it all and the delay is in getting the material out of port rather than to the port which means the ship has to be there so it isn't left in an un-secure stockpile) The big danger is the ease with which Russia took over that section of the Ukraine (using existing treaties so it is a lawful move, just like Syris could ask for help in the same way. Once Martial Law is declared certain steps have to be done before it is ended. Voting in a new Government and making changes to the old constitution would seem to be logical steps. How did Egypt do it once the army had control? It shouldn't be much different and hopefully the new leader will not be in jail quite so fast.
Crimea Brings forward Referendum on Region's Status to March 30 — Naharnet
(in part)
A referendum to determine whether residents in Ukraine's flashpoint peninsula of Crimea want greater autonomy has been pushed forward to March 30, the spokeswoman of the region's newly-chosen prime minister Sergiy Aksyonov said Saturday.
The vote had originally been planned for May 25, on the same day as presidential elections set by parliament following the ouster of the pro-Moscow President Viktor Yanukovych.
Meanwhile, Russia's lower house of parliament asked President Vladimir Putin to take measures to stabilize the situation in the Ukrainian region of Crimea and use "all possibilities" to protect the local population, its speaker said.
"The Council of the State Duma, in the name of the MPs of the State Duma, has asked the president to take measures to stabilize the situation in Crimea and use all available possibilities to protect the population of Crimea from lawlessness and violence," speaker Sergei Naryshkin said in a statement read on state television.
You have to admit the Russian version of deporting unwanted has a unique slant to it, give the (arrested security personnel) Russian passports and the 'ship them home' for debriefing, in video statements, about their activities over the last 3 years.
