That is a lovely speech.............now, what do you think we should do if Putin's boys invade Ukraine and proceed to shoot everyone they don't like??

Suddenly it all falls apart, doesn't it??

This is what happens when you have a spineless moron for President in the USA. Russia thinks she can get away with anything.


Colpy is right , if this happens what do we do.

Putin is looking to consolidate all the former USSR. Then have the cold war standoff with himself as permanent leader just like Stalin. He has control of most of the media in his country and has all the armed forces of Russia at his command. When I was there Lysva Russia in 2007 he was already changing the peoples perception of past history. As in how Stalin was a real hero not a mass murderer which was a western lie put in to demoralize Russia.

In Russia they have no road systems or infrastructure as we do and most villages to the east of Moscow are without running water , many cities to the north unemployment is high and even in places like Perm where the big oil is they get about a quarter of the pay we get if they get paid at all, but they do understand it is not good to speak out.
So here we have a man , Putin, threatening a key country , Ukraine , who they now say is a threat to Russian sovereignty , does anyone really believe that. Fair elections now that is a very uniformed statement by you know who , as democracy and fair are unknown in those circles.

So the question remains " What will we do ?"

I read somewhere the new Govt passed a law stating that the Ukraine has one Official Language. Really good way to reach out to those on the other side.
FFn dumb move, pandering, when inclusive leadership is needed.
This is an ethnic war that goes back 750 years before there was a Russia.

So the question remains " What will we do ?"
Help those who have signed up for the long haul like Poland and others who have a grudge to settle with Moscow.

In addition to the soldiers – nearly twice the British Army’s manpower after planned cuts – 880 tanks, 210 aircraft and 80 warships will take part in the operation.
The manoeuvres raised fears that the Russian president may be planning to send forces into Ukraine after the toppling of its Moscow-backed president Viktor Yanukovych.

In 2004 Hungary joined the EU, expecting streets of gold. Instead, four years later in 2008 Hungary became indebted to the IMF. The rock video by the Hungarian group, Mouksa Underground sums up the result in Hungary today of falling into the hands of the EU and IMF.

The song is about the disappointing results of leaving socialism for capitalism, and in Hungary the results are certainly not encouraging. The title is “Disappointment with the System Change.” Here are the lyrics:

Ok you love Russia we ALL got that , what is a mystery is why you are still here in this horrible country of ours when the gold is in Russia according to you.

I say congratulations on your new appointment to village idiot and have a safe flight to Moscow where in a short time you will realize how good freedom was here but until you loose it you have no idea what freedom is.

Lincoln was wrong most have already forgotten what was done what happened who the people were that have already perished from the earth.. The signature could be German or Greek or Nigerian or British.

Once again, darkbeaver is simply wrong, wrong, wrong. The speech was NOT lifted from anything (the handwritten original, plus copies with corrections/revisions still exist), and it is still remembered in the USA.

Yes it was, still is and will be remembered and quoted for centuries to come. It was an exceptional speech.
Abe only spoke for a few minutes.
At that time politicians would talk for hours, some in the media criticized Abe for such a short speech.
Guess what, they were wrong, and he was right.

Russia has NEVER had any real form of "Democracy". It's form of government has been one of a dictator from it's earliest days, till the present. While they DID make two attempts to establish a Representative Democracy in 1917, and again in the late 1980's/early 1990's, they were not successful at actually doing this.

Those governments were far too weak, and had so little power, that they could not stand up to any challenge. The Communists quickly overthrew the Russian Republic (even though they were, and always were, a tiny minority of the people), and Putin and his minions quickly overthrew the fledgling Russian democracy in the 1990's.

Russia, with two very brief exceptions, has had a Tzar since there has been a Russia. They just called them by different names after 1917.
