Motar! Help pull us out of the death spiral of insanity here!Religion:
“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment." (Matthew 5:21 NIV)
Christianity:
"But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell." (Matthew 5:22 NIV)
Religious righteousness means observing the letter of the law (not killing). Christianity gets at the spirit of the law (evicting anger).
M't:25:41-46:No one is going to "Hell".
You trying to be the most insane here? Give me your best answer and I might take you as being capable of holding a serious conversation.Church of Latter Day Saints?

Right you are, the new earth even includes the mentioned sparrows.and I don't believe that God, our heavenly Father. Our Father that loves us unconditionally, would cast any of his children out of his house. It just won't happen.
I like redundancy. I have a thick skull.Religion:
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery." (Matthew 5:27 NIV)
Christianity:
"But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matthew 5:28 NIV)
At the risk of sounding redundant, cj, religion involves externals (adulterous conduct), while Christianity impacts the inner, spiritual condition (lust).
That has to do with judging a person as being alive in the new earthy rather than being in the lake of fire, it has nothing to do with being being about which group they will belong to. I'll let you guess which group the ones in the verse below is referencing.Hmm.. In regards to Hell, Jesus said:
But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.
Mhz: you have managed to once again put scripture verse into a mix master. Context is needed within the books, chapters and verse.Right you are, the new earth even includes the mentioned sparrows.
Lu:12:6-7:
Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings,
and not one of them is forgotten before God?
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Fear not therefore:
ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Shouldn't that be 'your heart' (my heart) or are you judging all others?I like redundancy. I have a thick skull.
Yes, it is indeed our heart that is a maggot infested vile contraption. The only cure is the atoning work of Christ.
My head just popped off and is rolling about on floor. That has to do with judging a person as being alive in the new earthy rather than being in the lake of fire, it has nothing to do with being being about which group they will belong to. I'll let you guess which group the ones in the verse below is referencing.
1Co:5:11-13:
But now I have written unto you not to keep company,
if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator,
or covetous,
or an idolater,
or a railer,
or a drunkard,
or an extortioner;
with such an one no not to eat.
For what have I to do to judge them also that are without?
do not ye judge them that are within?
But them that are without God judgeth.
Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
Are you not a sinner too? All have sinned and have fallen astray.Shouldn't that be 'your heart' (my heart) or are you judging all others?
Why would any thinking person accept a doctrine that tells you that about yourself? That's at the root of why I am not a Christian.Yes, it is indeed our heart that is a maggot infested vile contraption.
I do see that my sentencing stinks, so I will clarify.Shouldn't that be 'your heart' (my heart) or are you judging all others?
Your quote below does't seem to allow the Great White Throne to be the escape from hell yet the ones in that latter half of Isaiah 65 are the ones that were killed by the sword and then experienced the punishment that is just as hell is described as being.Mhz: you have managed to once again put scripture verse into a mix master. Context is needed within the books, chapters and verse.
“I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Based on Scripture and especially the teaching of Jesus - I do believe there is a hell. Haven't been there so I cannot give you a description. I believe hell to be a final eternall seperation from God.
Most unpleasant.
The 7 letters to the Churches in Revelation cvver all Gentiles that have ever heard the word 'God' so it doesn't matter what concept we can dream up, those are the relationships that He will use to decide who is alive for the 1,000 years and who had to wait for the Great White Throne. The Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Jaines, Shintos and aboriginal peoples everywhere: How do they fit into your discussion? You are a Christian because you were born here. If you were born in Iran, you would be a Muslim. If you were born in India you would probably be a Hindu. You guys are so self absorbed that you have lost all perspective. The Bible is not the only holy book. It is not the end all and be all of sign posts pointing the way home.
You did the same thing again, it should me 'my heart' instead of 'we all ...'. The Holy Spirit was withe every Scribe that wrote any Scripture yet you place little emphases on the exact wording in all of the Bible.I do see that my sentencing stinks, so I will clarify.
We all have a heart that stinks prior to faith in Christ. A meandering, delirous, self centered, faithless heart. We only come to a knowledge of this through the Holy Spirit's working. He is the one that convicts of sin.
Dexter, I get that. It is not the best opening line to have to suggest to a person that they are sinful. Doesn't do alot for one's self esteem. And certainly I may have been a little too descriptive in defining the state of the human heart. Christianity doesn't stop at being convicted of one's sin. God loves us but I do not equate that with God being ok with our sin. Beyond that the Christian life is a renewing of the mind by the Holy Spirit. Why would any thinking person accept a doctrine that tells you that about yourself? That's at the root of why I am not a Christian.
I am still looking around for my head that rolled off an hour or so ago.Your quote below does't seem to allow the Great White Throne to be the escape from hell yet the ones in that latter half of Isaiah 65 are the ones that were killed by the sword and then experienced the punishment that is just as hell is described as being.
1Co:15:39:
All flesh is not the same flesh:
but there is one kind of flesh of men,
another flesh of beasts,
another of fishes,
and another of birds.
Lu:3:6:
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
Isa:65:25:
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together,
and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock:
and dust shall be the serpent's meat.
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain,
saith the LORD.
Can you show me that the ones mentioned aren't the very same ones that Adam named in the garden?

Cliffy, salvation isn't defined by geography. The Holy Spirit can find anyone, anywhere, anytime. Go preach to all nations about the Salvation that comes by faith in Jesus Christ. How will they believe if they do not hear the GOOD NEWS?The Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Jaines, Shintos and aboriginal peoples everywhere: How do they fit into your discussion? The need of the hour is to distinguish and differentiate between "religion" and Christianity. Christianity is NOT Religion What is religion? Was Jesus Christ religious? Is Christianity a religion?
I don't think so, they are both Christian, one believes it's all via the biblical word the other holy spirit lead. You and I on the other hand......hopeless....Well, cj44, is MHz going to hell?
Why would any thinking person accept a doctrine that tells you that about yourself? That's at the root of why I am not a Christian.

No man or woman can know the heart of another. We are not to judge. It is not our calling to determine who and will not be saved.I worry abour MHz's and Dexter's immortal souls.
Cj44, you say there is a hell and appeal to Scripture. Gerry, you say there cannot be a hell, because that contradicts the nature of god (all loving, etc.)
Both of you seem to say "salvation" is through a belief in Jesus as a god.
Dexter doesn't believe in gods.
MHz maintains as a strict monotheist (Jew, Muslim, a Seeker, etc.) that believing in the man Jesus as God is heresy (blasphemy, etc.)
So, cj44 and Gerry, are Dexter and MHz going to be saved? Going to heaven (Elysian Fields, etc.)
Gerry and cj44 differ. Which one is the Christian?
I think you will end up in West Virginia - almost heaven.
