RCS, I don't mind Stintz but I would pick Tory over her if he ran.

Anyone is better than Ford at this point.

Of the possible candidates, I'd probably prefer Tory, but with no information about what his platform might be and with his disastrous political history, I'm certainly not ready to jump onto that bandwagon yet.

Tory made a major political mistake in his bid to be Mayor and Premier, he told the truth.

And that's the problem, really. It's not that anyone actually thinks this guy is a coompetent. The folks left who support Ford just want to watch the whole thing burn, and laugh. These contemporary right-wing nutbags are frankly no better than anarchists. They are inherently destructive.
bingo!

Nope. Fact of the matter is that it wasn't burning to begin with. Ford has one major flaw. He's an addict, but he is a functioning addict.

He should step down and get help. The Left Wing in Toronto City Council want one of their own at the helm. If Tory or even Stintz were to take the reigns they would be incensed.

Ford throws hat in ring for October election. That’s what I like to see, a man who can brush himself off and get back on his feet after adversity. That is the sign of a real man!
he's going to take another crack at being mayor. ;)

Lol, no.

In the provincial election, he was steamrolled because of the faith based schools idea. In his attempts to gain a seat in the legislature, he was short sighted.

He actually did well in his bid for Mayor, but it seems like that caused the hubris that lead to his latter failures.

Comprehension problems seem to be your handicap. He stated that it was unfair to fund the Catholic School System and ignore other faith based schools. That was being honest. Personally I think funding for faith based schooling should be removed. The present system is unfair to other religions.

It was a valid point. The implementation was wrong. And the faith in this tactic allowed McSquinty to turn the focus away from his bungled years in office and failed promises and turn it against Tory. It was Tory's campaign to lose and he did.

something better than what we have is what I would prefer...as for Ford, meh, doesn't affect me, but if he does win and isn't cleaned up expect more of the same from your hero.

Check your facts before insulting other people.

He was not blasted for simply saying it was unfair, he was blasted for proposing to extend funding to other faith based schools.

Even you seem to agree, as the vast majority of Ontarians did, that this is a terrible solution.

This was in 2007, so things looked very different for the Ontario Liberals. The economy was good and there was much less for the opposition to attack them on.

They originally planned to run on their record in office, which could very well have carried, but the faith based schools idea was very low hanging fruit. It was an easy way to discredit the PC campaign out of the starting block.

and what would that be...... and considering Ford is a conservative, I wouldn't be calling him my "hero".

I don't have the answer because it is not an easy straightforward analysis with a simple solution...it needs to be something that evolves and changes according to need. I doubt there are many who cannot see that we have outgrown our current system. The senate mess is just a symptom of the trouble we are in.

Assuming he's also a changed man.

Hmmm... Well, I like ot give people the benefit of the doubt, but I sure hope people don't re-elect him without him showing some kind of credentials on the changed front.
