The wonderful thing about an election is people get to vote for their own brand

She pitched a significantly less expensive transit system than Ford's $8 Billion subway to Scarborough Mall.
A system that will move a mouse's fart worth of people compared to a subway. Imagine outside stops in weather like today compared to the relative warmth of underground stations.
As you have seen from the posts above, she certainly can't count on any support from Fordites. They seem to be convinced that she is queen of the harpies.
I agree that she seems like a very intelligent and capable person, but the way that she has slotted into the Ford saga puts her in a tough position.
Her actions around the LRT file made her a darling of many left wingers, but she is too right wing for them to actually vote for her. The mere fact that so many left wingers like her is enough for many right wingers to write her off.

Actually no, the Transit city LRT routes will move a lot more people than a few extra stops on the end of a subway line.
Subways have a higher capacity, but there simply are not enough people in these areas to utilize that capacity. LRTs have a lower capacity, but more than enough to services the areas in which they are being built, and at a third of the cost, you can cover much more ground for the same price.
I'm sorry you don't like the cold, but you live in Canada, it is part of the deal. I'd love a subway right at my front door, but I chose to live in a low density residential neighborhood, so there are tradeoffs.
To be fair, it wasn't her plan. She lead the effort to go back to essentially the same plan that was in place before Ford took office and canceled Transit City.
This was really the biggest broken promise of the Ford campaign. He convinced all these people that if they rejected Transit City he would build them subways instead and it would cost them nothing. Years later, all he had done is scrapped their fully funded transit plan and replaced it with absolutely nothing.
This is the sad thing for Torontonians. Because of Ford, our government and tax dollars are now just a sideshow for other people to gawk at, and he has every intention of dragging this out as long as possible.
