It's very sad to watch.
That's because the "people" are typically entertained by things like Jersey Shore or the Kardashians.....the bar is set low.
I'm on record with my disdain for the media. I don't know if it's this Ford thread or one of the many others, but I am on record. Lol.
However I'm also on record as stating that politics would be great if it wasn't for all the damn politicians.
Last night he stated he had not used drugs in over - approx - a year.
Today there are more reports he did in fact use drugs.

The mayor told CNN on the weekend “I haven’t smoked crack in over a year” and has repeated it several times in other media appearances in the past few days. He told CBC the last time he did drugs was “a year ago some time.”
However, he also told Fox News Sunday:”I’ve admitted to using illegal drugs in the last year.”
“Please show [me] the video and stop playing the games,” Ford said on CP24 when informed of the new documents.
“I don’t do drugs, maybe a year ago,” he said seconds earlier.
Ford has admitted to smoking crack cocaine in a “drunken stupor” but says he hasn’t done any drugs since then.
The police document was made for the case against Alexander “Sandro” Lisi, a close friend of the mayor who has been charged with drug trafficking and extortion in relation to an attempt to obtain the video.
“The video was made surreptitiously in the month of February 2013 of the Mayor without his knowledge,” the police report states. “During the month of May 2013, the accused [Lisi] before the court became aware of the existence of a video that depicted the mayor of Toronto in a compromising, intoxicated position.”
He seems to get a lot of things wrong. Makes me wonder a little more if he is hiding more crap.

Why is it hilarious to watch someone self-destruct? You literally find joy in this?
I don't care who is on the other end, some politician or strung out celebrity, it's discomforting to watch. Or at least, it should be.

I wasn't just thinking of Ford, I was talking about sensationalizing and drama based journalism that the masses suck up. It is shaping opur future, and not for the best.
ZF's comment, is a prime example of the people the poor quality of journalism has in mind when they publish dirty laundry, garbage and yellow journalism.

It's more like a chuckle with Rob Ford. A lower level of humour--what did that old scoundrel get up to today? Has he finally jumped the shark with bowling over grandma?
If he were self-destructing he'd be long gone now. He's not the victim here. Any residual sympathy I might have had for Rob Ford went out the window when made his comment about having enough p u s s y to eat at home and then dragging his poor wife into the middle of the freakshow at the very next press conference. Only a Grade-A genuine ba5tard would do something like that.
You keep saying that, and though I agree, he is his own worst enemy, the hounds have been at his heels since day one. While greater acts of political corruption go by without even a remotely equal amount of energy expended.
That just smells to me. It smacks of yellow journalism and partisan politics.
From the Toronto Star--sure, I could buy that. But he's a world-wide media sensation right now. I don't think partisanship has much to do with it. I think people just are spellbound by the sheer spectacle of it. I think one talk show wag said he felt guilty because he felt he should be paying a subscription fee to Rob Ford's life. I mena its basely sensationalist, no doubt about it.
I don't have sympathy for him. He's going to have to own what he says and what he does, as all adults should. The situation being sad is not about having sympathy or even pity for him. What's sad is that everyone, the media, the public, is clamoring around looking for more and more and more low brow tidbits to "have a laugh over".
So hilarious is not a word I would use, not even lightly. Because whether he's bringing it upon himself or others are bringing on him or some combination of the two, it's really not something that should be for our amusement.

More and more everyday the 'main stream media' becomes like TMZ.
Wait, wait; when a person lusts after a very public and influential position he has to know he's going to be under constant scrutiny by the press.
This azz clown has a history of being a buffoon of impetuous behaviour so what does he do? He runs for mayour of Toronto and thinks he can simply carry on with stupid spur of the moment stuff while serving at the behest of the people.
This guy needs to go down and go down hard!
Impression to others of similar immaturity thinking of taking important positions without people knowing their addictions should be one of "not on your life". I'm a buffoon so I should avoid spotlights should be the mantra of anyone of that particular bent.
People of Toronto may not deserve any better, but notwithstanding why they voted for this buffoon, he should be held to a higher standard because he volunteered for public office, no one forced him to run while noting: "yep we know you're an idiot druggy given to spontaneous stupidity but we want you for mayor anyway". This doofus knew his limitations and chose to exceed them regardless, now he pays, and he should pay BIG.

1, that spectacle was put in the limelight for a partisan reason.
2, It's only gotten worse because he's in over his head, and I have to say he was pushed into the deep end by partisan journalism.
It is, there's nothing in it about politics anymore. It's all about the drama.
It probably feels like he has been dealing with this media circus for a decade. SO being off by a month or two doesn't count.
