He'll survive it because in the end, he will lead the charge on the death of the senate and that will appease us enough for now..he gets defended here at my house (not by me any more) and as Walter said, the alternative is what? Our political system is FUBAR and we the people get the government we deserve....god help us.
If I were Harper I would be looking over my shoulder. I don't think he'll get
away with this in the long run. At some point there will be an investigation

They say 12 to 18 months for charges etc. Next year comes fast in politics- Now are Cabinet & Senate docs subject to a Police search warrant or are they protected. I would assume they are subject to a warrant.
I also see the numbers growing to between 10 to 15, possibly 20- and quite a few Senators. Possibly 5 to 8 aside from the 3 in front of the present goings on in the Senate.

What kinda scares me is Harpy's replacement. Maybe some of the dodgy political tricks Harpy's used will simply snowball with the next guy/girl. And ChRETIeN is still around to add to the list of shifty deeds.

I said a long while ago this has legs- they first attempted to throw 3 under the bus- well guess what we learned- now they are considering changing the motion- for 2 of them- wonder why- well that one that is left- well I am sure we will see lots of leaks from various people and even the RCMP.

Harper isn't really from the west. He comes from Toronto and worked in Alberta. Neither is hardly the west. Wrong side of the hills.
Whether he or his party survive or not, Harper achieved exactly as he set out to do in Reform patch: Break the Senate. How better to do it than to swipe the mike from folks out to get you, give them enough rope then catch 'em in twisty words....

If Harper is wrong on the first bet, he’s in deep trouble. His insistence that he knew nothing about the complex web of arrangements surrounding his government’s attempts, first to first protect Mike Duffy from scrutiny and then to throw the embattled senator overboard, defy belief.
They defy belief because so many people close to the prime minister are known to have been involved.
