Northern Ontario,
Yeah, I suppose "a rose is a rose by any other name"!
By the way what Is that "Superannuation" you guys were talking about. I think I confused it with what was negotiated for my work place pension that we called "Bridging"
To make work for new employees and to encourage the older workers to retire before the age of 65, and extra 400$ was added to the pension. This , of course disappeared when you received OAS which at the time was about 400$

It's funny how hypocrites are after you to answer their questions but they are very careful to steer clear of any one else's!
And did you notice that neither of them would agree on their option to refuse their OAS cheques when the time came for them to get it.
I would call them Disingenuous if I was PC but I prefer your term of hypocrite.

If he's no fool why does it seem like he doesn't know what he's talking about. Can't differentiate between two completely different % categories, doesn't know whether he had an options at the time to take his pension, he KNOWS he didn't have the option but the rules MIGHT have been different, doesn't remember quotes I point in this string directly from the federal government website, doesn't know where the source of his OAS cheques from, believes that he was putting in OAS for the past 50 years, etc, etc, etc.

And pretty well all those beliefs were correct. You should drop this O.A.P. sh*t. You'll be collecting it one day (if someone doesn't shoot you first) Who the hell do YOU think pays for O.A.P.? Pretty well every nickel generated in this country comes from the citizens or the work they do. I know you'd like to change the O.A.P. so the amount exactly coincides with need, I'm not exactly stupid! But how are you going to do that? Some people's wealth doesn't show up on paper. Every one has different circumstances that require varying amounts of money. So it would be most unreliable to think that one guy whose income is $40,000 deserves less than another whose income is $35,000 a year. How many $s are you proposing to blow on bureaucracy? Better just to leave it as is and let the really hard cases come forward for the G.I.S. How many "unemployed" elderly are working for pay "under the table". You really want to get that can of worms opened up? Speaking of worms, maybe a guy makes $25 selling worms out of his garden to fishermen? You really want to get into that? Sometimes it's better to let "sleeping dogs" lie.

I have an even better term, starts with "A" and ends with "e"! -:)

Because with me anyroad, he has a record of saying thoughtful things. This may not be his best day, certainly I don't give a rap for Canada's old-age system. Just that he's generally worth listening to.

It's a silly scenario as it isn't really an option. I will not have OAS when I retire. That is a good thing in my opinion.

Like CPP you apply for it....They send you the forms...and if you don't fill them....and correctly ...you don't get a cent...

So you wouldn't really refuse it, just not ask for it. I couldn't, in all consciousness, ask for a government handout that my kids could not afford to pay. Since I don't foresee myself needing it anyway, in the unlikely event that it still existed, I would most like not apply. I say most likely because things could change. Maybe the government will have lots of money by that time and my kids will be done paying off the debts created by their grandparents generation. Maybe their generation will be wealthy like the current senior's generation and will be happy to spend their hard earned tax dollars on me.

It's ironic that a guy who knows so much about it, doesn't know that one simple fact!-:) Yet he's qualified to expound at length about someone else's eligibility! -:) I'm just waiting for his pile of Bullsh*t to fall over and bury him. -:)

Yesterday I thought this thread was getting boring, but now I think it's actually a lot of fun! -:)

I see you are already practising the excuses
And I believe every one of them:roll:.....G'Night...

I think we got them buffaloed, they seem to have quit. -:)

I just got a different fish;-)

Well, I think that's one dance I'm up for. Just wish they'd start answering my questions instead of spewing garbage and littering the scenery with "reds". -:)

Two things about you Cannuck, you're as transparent as glass and you are sooooooooooooo predictable! Intelligent people use a little variety. -:)

Who was talking about you?

Just as predicted- maybe he's a robot, lots of action no brains! -:)

Yup, all us seniors are spending all our OAS on vacationing in Arizona. Try living on $6,180 a year and see how far you get, you whiny little pup. Go jerk off in the corner until you grow up.

If it's any of your bleeping business I have 7, at least they won't grow up to be sissies like some I could mention.

Sissy? What is your definition of a sissy?

Have any of your grand kids been to this site and read what you have posted?
