So if you chop off the hand that giveth, you'll be in minus pretty quick! LOL

Hi Sal, I just met Dr. Naude during this last spell in hospital but he came across to me as very good and thorough when examining me and the ratings seem to bear that out. He practices in Vernon B.C.

Dr. David Naude - Vernon, BC Internist - 16 doctor reviews | RateMDs.com
He has excellent ratings...it's comforting to have the best ♦ My doctor got one really bad rating from a client. As I read it through I was not impressed with the approach of the client and decided I wouldn't want that person as a patient either. Not everyone gels. So even a bad rating here and there is to be expected... but mostly 5's lets you know you are in capable hands.

It was one of the policies in the CCF/NDP platform that Trudeau stole to keep the movement from gaining momentum. It was first implemented and conceived in Saskatchewan by Tommy Douglas.

wrong. Tommy Douglas did not implement universal health care in Saskatchewan.

We had something like this over 20 years ago in the States. A rural community paid for a student's tuition and he/she would be required to work in that area for about 3 years. After some initial success it stopped. But it sure was a good idea.

You're absolutely right, Sal. Some people don't want to do anything for themselves and expect to be "bailed out" of any difficulty. The best person to look after My health is ME. And 99% of the time that works, for the other 1% you need some help and that is where a good doctor comes in, but he can't be expected to hold your hand 24-7.

Oh, I was always under the impression it was Tommy...............so where did Tommy fit in?

Totally agree. We are in charge of our health and we have to do our part with diet and exercise as well as monitoring ourselves and deciding which direction we want to go in and what works best for us personally.

It was Woodrow Lloyd. Tommy already buggered off to Ottawa before it was implemented.

Nah, they would get in trouble with my dog!

Not quite sure I follow your rationale! I don't judge people by their nationality, because the sum total would be a dead heat.

There are few Doctors who don't have any bad reports.
You gave a name and another poster claimed him to be a great Doctor.
You posted that all South African Doctors are bad. Canadian Doctors also get bad reviews.

HCR in the USA also gives some incentive for rural health care:

"Invests in the health care workforce to ensure that people in rural areas have access to doctors, nurses,
and high quality health care. Beginning next year, the
Act will provide funding for the National Health Service
Corps ($1.5 billion over five years) for scholarships and
loan repayment for primary care practitioners, including
doctors and nurses, who work in areas with a shortage
of health professionals.

The Act also provides more resources to medical
schools to train physicians to work in rural and
underserved areas, and establishes a loan repayment
program for pediatric specialists who agree to practice
in medically underserved areas such a rural regions."

Word of advice for BC rural patients.

Stay away from the South Africans!!!

If they send one to your region, MOVE.
We have had 2 from So Africa, the first one thought she was a great Dr, not so great. The next one actually is very good, but he doesn't have the huge ego as the woman Dr. He has a perfect rating on Rate Your Doctor, her's not so good.
