Does montreal have a china town? , or better yet a punjabi or hindi community that has a bunch of sankrist signs out on the street?

I live in Montreal so I technically should be able to answer your question. But considering my English language skills it's not safe for me to leave my home. I've never been further than the supermarket from fear of being caught by the language gestapo! Hopefully they never discover my activities here on Canadian Content otherwise my days are counted.

I've lost a friend to the gestapo when he tried to smuggle a box full of English literature classics across the Quebec border. They shot him on the spot.

It's all well and good to make light of it s_lone, but the language cops are harassing businesses, big and small.

Whether you care to see that for what it is or not, really doesn't change the fact that it's abhorrent.

I am sure S_lone is objecting to the nazi comments. Which I agree... yes it is a problem ... some are not taking this laying down ... but this is why I post here less and less. Due to the exagerated opinions.

It's one thing to have a law (such as bill 101) which violates civil rights (as determined by both the United Nations and the Supreme Court), however, this law provides us with no financial gain. In fact it costs us hundreds of millions of dollars every year, and as we've seen recently makes us a laughing stock.

Exaggerated opinions are everywhere. We live in an age where, if it's not sensationalized, well then it's just not news. But we can either shut down, shut out and ignore the whole thing, or we can fight to take it back. Work our way beyond the hyperbole and get to the meat of the issues. There are still real learning opportunities and opportunities to impart knowledge, thoughts, opinions and even a little wisdom.

Oh and don't mistake the flippant commentary for exaggerated opinion.

Signed,
One who flippant comments....on occasion. ;)

Yeah, lol. I saw that. :D

I would have let you know if you hadn't caught it. ;)

Your lucky your not Italian.... I wont be suprised, i take it the Vichy French that didnt get hung, all moved to Quebec and helped create the very phobic anti english policy..... retty soo the Parti de Quebec will be having rallies asking for the fueher....

To be honest everyone here has heard some french person cry over the fact said english man cant speak french perfectly.... But you nver hear us english cry about the way people slaughter our language and we dont cry when we see non-english advertising.... We are not little bitches

As for your friend, well mabye if he didnt live in Quebec he wouldnt have had to smuggle an english version of "Lord of the ring.....

Honestly though its extremely sad that this french organization harrasses non-english business's...

I imagine its funny for you, so its fun for me to poke fun at well, the bigots that

The fact you would protect such harrassment shows that you might be just as xenophobic....
We all know if we did the same thing in Ontario as the french are doing in Quebec, well there would be alot of crying coming out of Quebec.... But then again, that **** just rolls off my back...

Here's an idea all Quebecers could certainly rally around: The Quebec Indigenous Coaltion for French! :)

There you have the makings of a real comedy troupe. Another possible contender would be a shop or restaurant that woudl put up a sign in the local indigenous language first and French underneath half the size. Wait till it goes to court, then let them know what language it is and make sure all the media know it, then you'd see Marois in damage control in no time flat.

O the fun we could have with this!
