You? Clear? That'll be the day, Snapdragon.

As usual, you missed the point - being they on lofty perches care not where the poop falls - right, left, innie, outie, backward or forward.

What's got your panties all in a bunch?... Run out of Cheetos and surfing porn just ain't quite the same? Do us all a favor and step out and get some more porn munchies and skip the trolling, m'kay?

Looks pretty comprehensive to me. Hell the Band Manager makes more than the chief. I wonder why all the subterfuge by the government when they have the facts already? What is Harpo covering up?

The question has to do with how the monies are being spent. With total revenues over $30MM annually and a total population of 1550, it seems unusual that the Band should be in the dire straits that they presently are.

Spence's mismanagement?

Does she manage? In any municipality, the manager does that. The mayor is not much more than a chairperson of council meetings and takes recommendations from management. And was stated in the article gerry posted, Aboriginal Affairs actually manages their lives according to the Indian Act. Something is rotten in Denmark and I think there is a lot of finger pointing that is misdirected. The audit was probably paid for by AA.

Very good article gerry. A clear breakdown of what is really going on there. The misinformation junkies will probably ignore it unfortunately. They would rather get misinformation sound bites from the pompous loudmouth Levant.

only $5.8 million has gone towards housing for Attawapiskat. At most that could have built the community 23 new houses,
Really?

I have no choice BUT call B U L L S H I T

$250K to build a house?

On which planet? The ice giants out past Saturn?

At best it's $30K in material to build an 800sq ft 2 bdrm house and another in $30K in labour and that is way way way over estimating on the labour.

That's nearly 100 NEW homes from $5.8Million

Let's not forget that the housing allowance kicks-in each and every year.... So, what happened to the money for housing over the last few years?.. The last 5?.. Last 10?

I'm no expert in housing costs in remote areas but it does sound expensive. They also stated that half the cost go to transportation of materials to such a remote area.
I personally built a log house for $800 back in '82. I probably couldn't repeat that feat for less than $10,000 today and that isn't including labour. BTW, a Panabode styie house. like you suggested earlier, would not be warm enough in the far north. The walls would have to be a minimum of 10" thick, not 4". People who had Panabode houses in the Quesnel area couldn't keep them warm.

Take a look at the numbers Cliffy. For a population of 1550 people, there are a lot of questions... Like has been suggested, the buck stops with Spence and considering that she is not interested in providing answers to some hard questions, the chances are that she is protecting her butt (or maybe someone elses)

Spence could have opened the books and dealt with these questions head-on. In fact, she could have easily used this issue (starting with last year's coverage) to get some fast action, but she opted to not comply with the gvt's request to see the books.

Doesn't that make you wonder just a little?

That doesn't cover electricity, plumbing or heating, which can really add up. Those wall are only 2 3/4 inches thick. They would freeze to death.
Right. Still way way way under $30K so I nail my $60K mark easily. They wouldn't freeze to death, far from it.

The audit was pretty comprehensive. What more does the government want? She is acting chief and does not have control over the money. The government should be asking the hard questions of the tribal manager. It seems to me that the audit was probably contracted by AA and they had access to the books. This whole mess looks like a "Oh. look over there" kind of ruse by the government.

No "look over there" ruses...

Here is what $40K buys.

5 bedrooms and flipping gorgeous!

The houses are easy to set up.

They are pre-cut and fit together like Lego.

4 men 5 days for a puppy like this:
