Sometimes a picture speaks louder than words

If anyone thought the victory speech of Barack Obama last night was seen as a move toward uniting a divided country, you only have to look at the home of John C Morris at 1116 Southwinds Dr. in Port Orange, FL to see not everyone believes we are a divided country or that the American Flag is worthy of respect by all.

I saw that some rather fervently anti-Obama people had threatened to leave the US for some mythical nation in which their narrow view of the world would be more mainstream. I’ve heard Australia and Canada mentioned. I’ve also seen people from Australia and Canada vigorously deny that their nations are suitable candidates. For example, both countries are bastions of homosexual tolerant, socialist leaning pro-choicers – and they are both plagued with rampant atheism.

In an effort to assist, and noting that two key issues for these people are right-to-life and institutional homophobia, I thought I might do a little research into which nations are most suitable for emigrating bigots. I’ve found some which have banned both abortion and (at least male) homosexuality. I’ve also provided figures for the proportion of each nation that is Christian. For comparison purposes, the nation these people intend fleeing is nominally 78.4% Christian – nations with lower than this proportion are marked red. Additionally, given that these fleeing bigots don’t like certain other religions (which I am too coy to mention directly), I’ve also indicated the proportion of Muslims in each nation (compare to current infestation representing 0.6% of the US population).

For American “culture war” refugees, the nation which appears to be overwhelmingly the most attractive is Lesotho. Unfortunately, Lesotho is a small landlocked nation which is poor but nevertheless a little bit socialist, having spent 7.6% of its GDP on health care in 2008 (compared with the virulently socialist 15.2% frittered away by the US Administration in 2008 – join the dots people).

For those who are incensed by such profligate misuse of the public purse, the most suitable haven (so long as they can put up with the relatively high numbers of Muslims and the whole being African thing) would have to be Kenya, with their 4.2% spending on Health.

Oh noes! One guy puts up an unofficial flag of Obama on his own property.... Grab your guns, it's civil war time.

Guess you never saw those Canadian flags with the maple leaf replaced by a pot leaf before?

Apparently to you, putting the face of the democratically elected leader of your nation on your nation's flag is far worse than slapping a drug on your nation's flag.

Jesus, what are you going to haul out next? You're really grasping for straws now aren't you.....

In the above link they asked for his name and other info which he declined.... I would too knowing the country is filled with nut jobs who'd find any lame excuse to attack him in one manner or another.

... Yet they refused his request for privacy and tossed out not only his name, but his exact address too.

So now any disgruntled Republican red neck can come after him.

:pain10: Quite a crock, ain't it!!

We're in for another four years of campaigning by the uber right Tea Party types who probably had a lot to do with losing the election for the Repubs.

Glad they lost.

But, they won't shut up and go away.

I'm hoping we don't have to read about American politics on CC every day. Makes it less and less attractive to belong. Just sayin.

Every day? More like officially sanctioned new troll threads every 10 minutes.

Seriously. How the US doesn't fly to pieces when you all loathe one another so much is a mystery.

Funny ain't it.... No mention about the raft of victory-related troll posts: just more self-identification as 'the victim'.

Those damn rich b*stards - I know that it's all their fault

Or if he flew an actual American flag he may be deemed a racist red neck.

No doubt... Funny the way that works, eh?

Seriously. How the US doesn't fly to pieces when you all loathe one another so much is a mystery.

I'll say this Karrie - I wish that even a small fraction of Canadians had as much passion for who was running our gvt.

Hell no. I'd prefer our nation was a nation and expected the government to represent us as such, and not as competitors. This election has conservatives actually talking about how they hope their country crashes and burns because they don't like the guy in power. And their fellow conservatives patting them on the back rather than standing up and saying something. Well **** that. I didn't vote for Harper but I hope to hell he runs this country well. My fellow Canadians hired him to do a job and I hope he does it even if he wasn't my choice. The fact that 'my guy' didn't get in doesn't negate my civic duty to be a proud Canadian, to stand by my neighbours, to do my part to make this nation a good one.

I have twenty times more passion about my country, than I do about my government, and I really fail to see that as a bad thing. The fact that the media has so effectively negated that passion in Americans throughout this election, is terrifying.

Not to mention extremely tolerant of immigration and multiculturalism.

I always found it ironic their name of the country, the "UNITED States of America". There has never been a time throughout the country's history where were solidified with one another.

300 Million plus - what would the % be for the following

Left Wingnut
Right Wingnuts
Plain old Wingnuts
And Dumfuks.
With all the polls, all the studies I am sure they must have done one on the above.

At least 49% is "dumfuks". To paraphrase George Carlin, think of how stupid the average person is, then realize that half of all people are even dumber than that.
