As I recall after 444 days the hostages were released by the Shah within a very few hours of Ronnie taking over, clearly a deliberate affront to Jimmy.

Try again. The Shah was dead of cancer in an American hospital. It was his being allowed into America that started the whole situation as Iran thought the US was prepping to help him in another coup. Ayatollah Khomeini was in control of Iran at the time. The actual release was shortly after Ronny was sworn in but the deal was done by Warren Christopher while Carter was still president.

Does nobody around here remember the actual facts????

You're right, it was the Ayatollah, but it didn't happen until after Ronnie took the reins, that fact I remember vividly.

An interesting piece from a non-partisan source...
Mitt Romney was not a businessman; he was a master financial speculator who bought, sold, flipped, and stripped businesses.
Bain Capital is a product of the Great Deformation. It has garnered fabulous winnings through leveraged speculation in financial markets that have been perverted and deformed by decades of money printing and Wall Street coddling by the Fed. So Bain’s billions of profits were not rewards for capitalist creation; they were mainly windfalls collected from gambling in markets that were rigged to rise.

So, that's an accomplishment of Reagan's? Allowing the Iranians to humiliate Carter? Wow, that's something to be proud of!

Say what? What are you talking about?

Damn you're off on this one Ten.

Northern Ontario,
He must have realized Romney would have left him on his own for another week or 2 while trying to figure out how to sell FEMA to the Chinese since the feds have no responsibility in a disaster.

While there is truth to what you say, I really think the head honcho of the country shouldn't have to wait to respond to the greatest domestic catastrope of all time. As far as I'm concerned this was Bush' worst failing during his 8 year tenure.

First it was Ray Nagin (he of the chocolate city fame), then the governess that wanted to be 'the man' for the job, then saw they upfuked and then asked for help. It all went downhill from there but started with those two idiots first.

I was wrong...Neither Blanco or Bush were to blame....
Hurricane Katrina

On August 27, 2005, Governor Blanco, speaking about Hurricane Katrina, told the media in Jefferson Parish, "I believe we are prepared. That's the one thing that I've always been able to brag about." Later that day she issued a request for federal assistance and USD $9 million in aid to President George W. Bush, which stated, "...I have determined that this incident is of such severity and magnitude that effective response is beyond the capabilities of the State and affected local governments, and that supplementary Federal assistance is necessary to save lives, protect property, public health, and safety, or to lessen or avert the threat of a disaster. I am specifically requesting emergency protective measures, direct Federal Assistance, Individual and Household Program (IHP) assistance, Special Needs Program assistance, and debris removal." Also in the requesting letter, the governor stated: "In response to the situation I have taken appropriate action under State law and directed the execution of the State Emergency Plan on August 26, 2005 in accordance with Section 501 (a) of the Stafford Act. A State of Emergency has been issued for the State in order to support the evacuations of the coastal areas in accordance with our State Evacuation Plan."
FEMA issued a statement dated August 27, that President Bush authorized the allocation of federal resources, "following a review of FEMA's ****ysis of the state's request for federal assistance. A White House statement of the same date also acknowledges this authorization of aid by President Bush. On August 28, Governor Blanco sent a letter to President Bush, which increased the amount of aid requested to US $130 million

I thought once it was declared a 'national' emergency FEMA and the feds automatically took over. I can't say for sure though so if you're 100% I'll believe you.

There are exceptions to every rule- generally the head honcho of an organization is held accountable/responsible for any SNAFUs, but through my own experience, I know sometimes the "head honcho" has no control of the system in place.

That theory let's Bush off the hook. He can send FEMA in but he in no way controls their show.

Pennsylvania: Republicans Trouncing Dems In Absentee Ballots By 19 Points…

Do you believe in miracles?
Via GOP.com:
This morning President Obama’s campaign indicated they are going on the air in Pennsylvania and sending Joe Biden to the state trying to protect a state that just one week ago was considered to be safe ground. One possible reason? The enormous GOP edge in absentee ballot returns in the state, creating an enormous and unexpected hole for the President’s campaign to dig out of.

In 2008 the GOP edged the Democrats by just 2% in absentee returns. As of today the GOP’s lead is 18.8% — a 16.9% bump in a state Obama won by 10% in 2008. Republicans have turned in 55.2% of the absentee ballots to date while the Democrats have returned just 36.4%.

The Romney Victory team has been on the ground in Pennsylvania for months with over 60 staff and dozens of offices. We have made over 5 million volunteer voter contacts including over 1 million volunteer door knocks across Pennsylvania. That voter contact is paying off in the absentee ballot returns and clearly the President’s campaign sees it in their numbers. That’s why they are playing defense in the Keystone state as Governor Romney’s momentum allows us to expand the map.

Gee, that's a BIG change of heart!

What big change of heart? He said he wasn't seeing leadership from the Pres. A disaster happened, and he's seeing leadership, and working with him, and says as much. How is that big? I guess I am just going by the quotes given in the photos but I really don't see it as being a big leap for Christie, or some kind of 'grateful for a bailout' bull like the image tries to portray it.
