Canada doesn't have kangaroo courts. I find the term is used most often when a court makes a ruling that someone happens to disagree with. And none of your other objections are valid. We are not talking about valid historical or societal truths. We are talking about an American bigot who has gone out of his way to stir up racial hatred using deliberate lies. This is a clear abuse of freedom of speech just as Hitler's and Goebbels' hate-filled diatribes in the 1920s and 30s were hate speech. Or are you about to justify the murder of millions of Jews, socialists, homosexuals, and anyone else the Nazis didn't like?

Freedom of speech is a fine ideal, but as in all things there has to be a reasonable use of this right. When people abuse the rights they are given they don't deserve to have them.

What do you mean by truth? The factual, provable truth or the truth according to some traditional story from a couple of millenium ago. We cannot prove any of the stories from the bible or the Torah or the quran so how do we call any interpretation of any of it truth? We cannot prove Jesus existed and we cannot prove Mohamed existed so we therefore cannot prove either of them was how they are now portrayed. So, given that there logically is no truth in any of the religious books you cannot be speaking the truth when talking about them, ergo it is not a protection we can afford to those speaking about religion in any form.

So where do you draw the line as a matter of interest. Do you think there should be any type of restriction on any speech?
