Wow... you are having a serious case of the "dumb-dumbs" today aren't you?

Well you're the one whining about debt. How much? Or was it actually funded by something? Do you know? It's a legitimate question when someone's excuse is the debt.

Right now it is costing us $0.00 because it did not pass.

And you, who are supposedly one of the smart ones in here are spouting the Dem Party line that it is already paid for when the fact of the matter it is not. There is no money on hand to pay for it. It is based on taxes that are not collected and delinquent taxes when the imaginary delinquent companies have not even been penalized. And what happens when the money that was supposed to pay for this new Government Agency doesn't come in... DEBT.

Kind of like those shovel ready jobs we heard about. The ones that Obama finally had to admit that they weren't as shovel ready as he first thought.

I find it amusing that you feel that this as of yet created government agency will run so smoothly in the black and provide millions of jobs to Vets only. One need only look at Federal Jobs Training Programs already in effect to see what a waste they are. Most of the money is spent in administration of the agency and very little gets out to the people they are trying to help.

Wonderful. More ammunition for the Democrats during an election year. And no Eaglesmack. As usual you have it backwards. Killing this bill makes it obvious that unemployment among veterans is pretty much due to the Republicans.

How much would the bill have added to the debt?

In other words you didn't know, it just sounded like a legitimate excuse. $1 Billion, paid for over a 5 years. That's a decimal scale rounding error, a miniscule fraction of the entire cost of the wars in the last decade. Besides expanding skills training programs, it would have made military service for your country a credential that government must recognize in the hiring process.

All these Vets were working before this bill got shot down?

Well thanks for the input BS.

LMAO. That was all you could come up with! That was all you could add to this?

I read the article. A billion that was supposedly already paid for... with imaginary money that they don't have yet. Not taking into the failure of past Federal Jobs Training Programs.

But I see you've run out of talking points so you'll just be repetitive.

Grasping at straws again. You have been shot down by your own argument. It was the GOP reps that voted against the bill. Therefore the blame is theirs. Wiggle all you want; you hooked yourself. Apparently you completely missed the point of the article which was that a bill to create jobs for veterans was defeated by Republicans.

Northern Ontario,
Seems to me that it was another omnibus bill where the Democrats sneak in stuff that they know the Republicans will not vote for...so that the whole thing was a dog and pony show just before the election to make the Republicans look bad since most voters would not read the Bill......

Bill Text - 112th Congress (2011-2012) - THOMAS (Library of Congress)

Read section 4, 7, 8, 9.....and there might be more that have absolutely nothing to do with veterans.....

The whole thing is just another top to spin...........

That and the 'it wait until after the election' polar bear hide transport legislation. But when ya can prick the 'media' into action, these things happen.

Who is grasping at straws?

Republicans shot down this bill so therefore all out of work Vets are out of work because of this bill? And if the bill passed all out of work veterans would suddenly have jobs?

What kind of foolishness is that?!

Keep trying BS.

I'm sure that if that had been a veteran stand alone bill that the Republicans would have voted for it and the Democrats would have shot it down...

The concept is the same as the GI Bill of WW2.

Regular trops have no special training that can be transferred to civilian life. The idea behind such a Bill is to reward them financially for risking their lives for the freedom the rest enjoy so that they can get an education or trade.

It is not a trivial matter, for them.............

"You know what, after multiple billions of dollars invested in war, I think we should invest a few billion in helping veterans come home."

And one of those investments means 20,000 jobs over five years, tax incentives for those who would not otherwise look at a veteran resume, and in the mean time, maybe, just maybe we can keep people employed long enough to begin fixing a lot of the other root problems surrounding veteran employment and other veteran related issues.

Spending in America is anathema at the moment. Fears, founded or not, about our deficit crisis, our economy, and our tax rate ripple out from everywhere when new spending is proposed. In this particular case, however, we should be reminded that we have spent billions and billions of dollars on our war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The effectiveness of these wars, and the good they did or did not serve can be discussed elsewhere.

You're getting repetitive in your obtuseness. The bill was aimed at helping veterans. The Republicans shot it down. End of discussion.

112th CONGRESS
2d Session
S. 3457
A BILLTo require the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish a veterans jobs corps, and for other purposes

You didn't read Dasleepers link, the bill had more to do with denying passports to tax debtors than providing services for veterans. The discussion was far from over.

Personally I think these trojan horse bills should never be passed, should be banned. Bills should be on topic. Slipping in little snippets to sneak by legislators is BS.

Edit: at very least, it should have been entitled "A bill to deny foreign travel to tax debtors, and for other purposes.

Keep moving the goal post. There are better ways to help vets than another Federal Jobs Program which historically fail.

Why not expand on the GI Bill of today? You realize they have one right? Why create another government agency that will cost more in administration costs than helping Vets? Currently today's GI Bill provides money for college, vocational/technical training, on the job training, etc.
