Does not meet the standard for verifiable proof-Africa is rich in oral history- yet no mention is made of him.
I didn't realize Canadian Content was a court of law. There is oral history in Africa that Zheng He's fleet did visit Africa and left shipwrecked sailors there.

"...In 1999, New York Times journalist Nicholas D. Kristof reported a surprising encounter on a tiny African island called Pate, just off the coast of Kenya. Here, in a village of stone huts set amongst dense mangrove trees, Kristof met a number of elderly men who told him that they were descendants of Chinese sailors, shipwrecked on Pate many centuries ago. Their ancestors had traded with the local Africans, who had given them giraffes to take back to China; then their boat was driven onto the nearby reef. Kristof noted many clues that seemed to confirm the islanders' tale, including their vaguely Asian appearance and the presence of antique porcelain heirlooms in their homes...."

NOVA | Ancient Chinese Explorers

Perhaps even more accomplished than Chris, who I believe took syphillus back to Spain. (of course he probably said it was his crew)

Consider the syph payback for the diseases Chis brought to the new world. :)

Mulroney?????????????????? The most famous thing he did was pinched the light bulbs and door knobs from Sussex Dr. when he left. Diefenbaker was a diplomat and a gentleman by comparison.
I remember Diefenbaker. He got along well with Ike.

There are so many great people in history Dief was not one of them, he was a miserable
little man with grudges that influenced important decisions for Canada like the cancellation
of the Arrow.
As for great people, Tommy Douglas who built a conscience into our nations personality.
Castro in Cuba changed the face of politics in many parts of the world. Hero's for Latin
America, and he proved embargo's could be broken and resisted.

Dr Norman Bethune the Doctor from Montreal the developed blood plasma on the battlefield
and he brought western medicine to the continent of China.

Captain Cook was a great man who opened the world to the western powers of today

Benjamin Franklin was another developer of world events that effect us even today.

Alexander the Great was another, he influenced the world from one of the smallest nations
in the world.

Albert Schweitzer, David Livingston, Cecil Rhodes and to agree to disagree John George Diefenbaker (he just didn't put up with any sh*t, otherwise he could be quite personable)

Walter Reed, isolated the cause of Yellow Fever.

Tecumseh was a great man. So was Crazy Horse. They knew they didn't have a chance, but they did not go gentle into that good night. They raged against outrageous fortune, and ultimately had to be shot out of the saddle. Grave men, near death, who saw with blinding sight.

JLM I agree with the submissions you made except Dief, he was a mean spirited
man who eventually lost even the support within his own party.
He destroyed CD Howe, one of his main goals but it took so much out of him that
even the people around him stepped back and CD Howe eventually took him out
from the sidelines.

OK, you probably know more about him than I do, but I still liked the man. Just googled C.D. Howe and skimmed over his history. He was also regarded by many as rather arrogant.

Two more greats- Nelson Mandela and Andrew Carnegie.

Very interesting of Baal to mention Cook who is, indeed, highly regarded historically for all his maritime accomplishments. I recall reading in the past that he was a pioneer in preventive medicine as he learned to trade for green veggies and fruits. These were used by his men to prevent scurvy and other infections - nutrition science evolved from this. While many sailors often abandoned ship at first opportunity in those days, I understand his men were extremely loyal to him. His maps opened up trading routes which greatly expanded commerce. Unfortunately, it may have also facilitated foreign imperialism on the part of European powers eager to exploit more foreign markets. But this had been going on for two centuries which is well before he started his work.

On Cook's first voyage none of his sailors died. When he returned to Britain people were amazed by that fact. He stopped frequently, and as you note, served up greens to the crew. Very farsighted.

Petr the Great
Yeah, I agree with that. But the guy was a real badass. His military victories turned expansionist Sweden into an inward looking power.

I did note that 'great' does not necessarily mean 'good'. His character is irrelevant. I agree Diefenbaker was probably a better man but as PM didnt do a whole lot. Hell, his party for the most part didnt care for him while he was in. Mulroney did NAFTA, brought in the GST and had two major failures with the constitution which led to the BQ dominating Quebec for 20 years, the 1995 referendum and ultimately the destruction of his own party. Thats pretty big.

He who raises his hand in actual civil war against his countrymen and women is a scoundrel. There were a lot of scoundrels in Rome.

Indeed both in the Republic and Empire. Its amazing their civilization lasted as long as it did considering how many greedy people were working towards its destruction for personal gain.

Wasn't Dief responsible for the St. Lawrence Seaway?

It opened up on his watch but construction began under St Laurent.
