Your post doesn't really make any sense, you think somehow socialism is synonymous with "tin pot dictators" and murderers. Demonizing socialism or communism while simultaneously benefiting from the imperialistic genocidal history of capitalism , well that's irony at it's finest.

Socialism is excellent.........................until someone else's money runs out!

On the contrary he gave refuge to Americans who protested the war in Vietnam and was well liked here for doing so. If my reading of history is correct, he made Canada's economy less reliant on USA. Many of his critics say he was a socialist but I believe it was Conservative Mulroney who created Canada's biggest deficit in history (which is what his pal Reagan had done here). Don't know that for a fact but it's stuff I've read somewhere before.
Trudeau gave refuge to any one who opposed and hated America. America was on receiving end of his hatred. It's hard for me to warm up to someone who hates me. Trudeau felt about America the same way Castro felt about America.

Barack Obama.
Are you referring to the Drone Warrior who murders sleeping third world villagers in the dark of night? Obama's a war criminal.

He's been pretty effective on the international front, unlike the last guy who was all hat and no cattle and should be in San Quentin.

Can you present some evidence that Trudeau actually hated the USA? Just because refuge has been given to people doesn't mean one hates a particular country. For example, the USA has given refuge to thousands of Israelis who reside in the NYC area as we have discussed previously. Does that prove our government hates Tel Aviv. Obviously, not at all.

Trudeau didn't hate the US, he wasn't the kind of guy to sing Irish tunes and have a jolly good time. Trudeau spoke his mind and was very anti-nuke.

That was the impression I got when he was around. But there always is a stereotype that if you oppose America's wars, somehow this makes you anti-American. And that's likely what is motivating (at least in part) this anti-Trudeau sentiment that we are seeing above.

goph, I'm just telling you that he opposed America on all issues at the time, If America was for something, Trudeau was against it. Canadian/American relations deteriorated during his reign imo.

Of course, but it's subjective.

What's evidence to me, may not be evidence to you.

Trudeau didn't hate the US...
I beg to differ. His creating of closer ties to Europe, while snubbing our largest trading partner, might be a good place to start. His tenuous relationship with Nixon. His thumbing his nose at the US while allowing dodgers and deserters to hide out here.

There isn't an honest article or OP/Ed piece that doesn't highlight Trudeau's anti Americanism, in existence.

If he was around today he'd have a great time. Never afraid to take a question or have a debate.

Pierre Trudeau - Just Watch me - YouTube

True. I cant see Harper giving an unplanned interview and debate with a reporter on anything important. I doubt any member of the government would today. Trudeau at least spoke his mind and didn't seem to care what anyone thought and was willing to debate anyone anywhere. I imagine it'll be a long time (if ever) before we get a PM willing to do something like this again.

He and Nixon didnt get along well, that is well known. He did have a pretty decent relation ship with Carter though. I don't know much about his relationship with Reagan though.

If that makes him a war criminal than the last half a dozen (possibly more) American Presidents have been war criminals.

Catherine the Great, Cleopatra, Eleanor of Aquatine. It is a bit harder for women. They've more or less been ignored for most of history.

I just glanced over the bio of Harriet Tubman, a great woman indeed!
