One thing that I find amusing with this thread is the GWers actually used weather as an example of climate change.

Just goes to show you they'll say anything.

Unless you own a solar company and cut yourself a nice severance package with tax payer money when you go bankrupt... what are you getting in return?

More competition, more choice, more local control, sustainability and ultimately a future.

I agree. That is why we need to develop and use our own fossil resources more. I'd like to get the monkey off our backs as well. If my chance a technology that can replace fossil fuels is developed GREAT! However, raping the wallets of industry to pay for something that doesn't and may never exist is silly.

This is where we part company.

The intelligent place to leave most fossil fuels is in the ground, we don't need more air, water and soil pollution that somebody not in the fossil fuel sector is going to get to clean up. I'm not concerned about the fortunes of an uncompetetive, irresponsible sector that is probably stifling real innovation and economic progress. Let them play by the same rules the rest of us are expected to follow.

Did the government force carriage makers and horse breeders to pay for the development of the auto industry?

No, but then people got tired of all the horse **** polluting their cities the same way many of us are getting tired of all the pollution from really dirty sources of fossil fuels. It's 2012, not 1812, why are we even using coal and synthetic oil that often needs electricity from coal power to produce?

They do demand... unfairly. GREED

It's nothing new and ultimately it's our fault. If we need to take to the streets to return our political control then we should do that, I don't know why some people see democracy as this simple or even peaceful process. when offended take offence, if anybody misuses their public office whatever their political strip they should be shown the door, hell I think they should do jail time.

Like what exactly?

Like stop being told "that's the way it is", it's the way we allow things to be. It's possible to create a better world, just look at all the sacrifices Canadians have made in the past just so we can be here, treat the current problem like WW II and get people together to build a better future and stop listening to people who tell us there's no hope.

That completely avoids the reality of what is actually happening. Money is being wasted on this technology.

And do tell me what you use to heat your house with and drive your car with.

Well I think the convenience of the auto over the horse was the reason... not horse s***.

But lets go with what you posted. Why do you feel it is the responsibility of industry to be mandated to fund unproven technology? Why should an oil company be forced to fund a solar company? That is ridiculous. Why should Canada be forced to pay South Africa (for example) industry subsidies?

I don't feel like taking to the streets. I am not offended by people who don't want to tax me more and don't want to make my life difficult.

Like stop being told "that's the way it is", it's the way we allow things to be. Many don't see a problem. You are talking to me as if I agree with you and think there is no hope.

To think we are going to go back and live in the past is silly. Windmill farms aren't going to power and heat NYC... and NYC isn't going anywhere in your lifetime or mine.

I don’t know about the state of the law in Canada, but in the United States, it’s no longer the subject to challenge. The regulation of greenhouse gas emissions is mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency under the Clean Air Act; which regulatory authority has been upheld by the United States Supreme Court. See Massachusetts v. Environmental Protection Agency, 549 U.S. 497 (2007); American Electric Power Co., Inc. V. Connecticut, 564 U.S. ____ (2011). American global warming deniers can piss and moan about it; but they are just pissing in the wind.
All those 5 scientists on the supreme court happened to be statists, too. Another ruling to be overturned.

Your little snafu on winter wheat made my day and even more so watching you trying to backpeddle your way out of that comment.

There is no snafu...I merely replied to Eaglesmack's ignorance and named a couple crops that harsh winter storms could impact. You and Petros then filled in some blanks with implications and statements that I never made.

Smarten up.

The world doesn't revolve around me? Really? I guess you are desperate to use that. Heck I don't even know where you got that from.

Because like I've said quite a few times now, the Temperate Zone is huge. Just because you get a few feet of snow in Boston doesn't mean other areas of the temperate zone are getting the same weather.

So when someone says something about harsh winter storms in the Temperate zone affecting agriculture, you should know that there actually is agriculture that will be impacted by changing climate conditions during the winter.

Understand yet?

Never heard of winter wheat? Broccoli grows year round in some temperate climates. There's all sorts of food production in the temperate zone through the winter.

Seriously.
See your **** up yet? Ready to admit to it?

You don't think winter wheat grows in the winter too do you?
No, as a hunter, I know exactly what winter wheat is, and does.

Which is why I can't find anything in Ton's post that states what has been falsely claimed.

Kakato and Petros don't care about truth, they just want to win an argument. They'll go so far as to twist words and put words in others' mouths so to speak. Interpret someone else's word in one rigid manner and stick to it damning all else.

Typical trolls. Garden variety.

Kakato at least admitted that winter weather can affect winter wheat yields. I would have thought Petros would have been the more honest of the two. Life is full of surprises though.

Great nesting for those Pintails.

Yes harsh winter storms will happen. You don't think they'll stop do you now? Gosh remember the days when we didn't have harsh weather and every season was predictable?

How many carbon credits will it take to control the climate? Is there a dollar amount?

BTW... Do you know what purple font in CANCON means?

assinine.

This would be the third time I read his post, and I still don't see what you see.

Do you see the purple font I used in my original post? I was being sarcastic and Tonn got his panties in a bunch. Yapping about what crops grow in winter and the world revolving me etc.

Ya, I caught that, I also caught the frustration Ton likely faced trying to have reasoned discussion, while being hammered erroneously about something he never said.

I was being sarcastic and Tonn got his panties in a bunch.
I think if you take into consideration some of the outright trolling he had to deal with. You'll understand how your use of the word desperate and joining in with the false accusation, could get under his skin.

Yapping about what crops grow in winter and the world revolving me etc.
His reply to your purple post, was reasonable.

I think if you both go back to that point and start again, things could be different. You're both reasonable people.

No, I don't. But the evidence is certainly showing that blocking patterns in the jet stream are becoming more commonplace as the globe warms. That has consequences. Your sarcasm notwithstanding.
