I thought you were a lesser calibre.
I'll take the 12 gauge with slugs any day when dealing with these.

Everyone has a gun up there, you can walk down main street with your rifle on your back and no one would blink an eye.

I don't follow your reasoning at all. On the one hand, this guy wants the police to do their job, not harass him if he is not under suspicion of a crime.

On the other hand, you basically assert that somehow he shouldn't want the police to do their job where an actual crime is being committed because of this?

Wanting the police to not interfere in lawful activity and to interfere in unlawful activity is not a hypocritical position. On the contrary, as JLM points out, the fact that he may face police harassment over this just shows that what he is doing takes some courage.

It is a shame that people like to misinterpret standing up for everybody's rights as stupidity. In that state/city you should not have the police stopping you just for carrying a gun around.

Simple. Now I know the laws in the US are somewhat different than ours but all the cop wanted to know was if he had the right to walk around in public with a pistol. Which seems to me to be a valid reason to check when there was a complaint. He could have done the easy thing and provided his license. Instead he chose to be an a$shole.

It appears he was carrying the weapon openly. In many states, that does NOT require a license.

Then how do they determine who has the right to carry and who doesn't? It is my understanding that convicted felons do not have that right so how would the cop know the difference without asking?

It is called a T-Rex rifle, in .577 cal.

I looked it up....for comparison.

T-Rex .577 generates 10,180 ft lbs of muzzle energy.

.458 Winchester Magnum (elephant gun) generates 5,570 ft lbs of energy.

A one oz 12 ga slug generates 2518 ft lbs of energy.

So if you want to feel ONE HALF the recoil of a .577, load up your double 12 ga with slugs, and touch off both barrels at once.

:)
Sorry but the Youtube poster of the vid was wrong. The rifle that those people were shooting with is a 700 Nitro Express.

lol Well, it's like Colpy said, load over and under or dbl barrel 12 ga. with slugs and pull both triggers. lol

We used to take the gals out in the bush with the 4:10's,when they were comfortable we would give them the 12 gauge, they never even noticed untill they pulled the trigger. Most of them wound up on their ass on the ground.

Wow!

Not surprised. I loaded both my 12 ga.s and fire both at the same time (one in each hand). Quite a kick but it didn't bowl me over. Most of those yuks in the vid looked pretty slightly built to me.
Nitro Exporesses have been used by dudes in Africa big game hunts for decades.

First time I ever fired a shotgun it was from the hip,the gun flew back about 6 feet and the trigger guard gashed my finger in the process.

The .700 Nitro express, the largest of the double rifles, generates 9,500 ft lbs of energy, still less than the .577.

I've pulled the trigger on two magnum loads in a SXS 12 ga coach gun....I knew it had gone off... :)

lol There's a right way and a wrong way. Lucky you only had a shotgun. Try a Greener stagecoach gun like I did. They weren't supposed to be fired free, they were supposed to be fired by having the butt up against the backboard of the stagecoach. lol

Somebody is wrong. I saw that same vid of the Arab dudes shooting the T-Rex .577 years ago, 05 IRC on the Accurate reloading forums where i have been a member for many years. It was built for Saeed the owner of the forums and he set up the video.
I cannot link for you as it requires special permission just to view but you can look for it's listing.
