I guess you must have missed the link I posted showing that the .08 limit used in Canada and the USA is among the highest in the world. I'll post it again for your inspection. Blood alcohol content - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You might note that most nations accept .05% and lower as legally impaired. You might also note that the acceptable level for new drivers in Canada is zero. Unconstitutional? Driving is a privilege, not a human right.

When you set limits for impaired driving you have to set it to cover the L.C.D., there are drivers out there who I wouldn't want to meet on the road if they were 0.02.

Then let's set it at 0. If you have even one drink, you don't drive. Now the only ones I can think of that would have a problem with this would be the drunks, the alcoholics, the useless turds that don't want to accept responsibility for their actions.

There are drivers out there that I wouldn't want to meet stone cold sober! Let's face it, some drivers are idiots regardless of their intoxication level.

I agree, it should be set to zero. Driving isn't a right, it's a privilege.

Just think of Alberta as Mississippi North,it's a shame the Brits didn't get there in time to keep the riff raff out.Now it's up to Newfoundland to purify the place. It's a daunting task no doubt.

If it was not for the riff raff here then the newfys wouldnt have a place to come work as its us riff raff who makes things happen,I dont see many Newfys with corporate names in Alberta here.
Dont worry,Alberta will have jobs for your province for many years yet.

The reason I said "unconstitutional" is because the limit in the Criminal Code is .08. They could make that anything they want, but it is out of provincial jurisdiction. This is exacerbated by the no-trial, no contest nature of the Law in BC and the one proposed in Alberta. Basically, you blow .06 you pay huge fines and lose your license without recourse to appeal. THAT is unconstitutional.

I don't much care what the limit is elsewhere. At one time is was .15 here in Canada. Now that is just silly.

.08 strikes me as a happy medium. No problem with a beer at lunch, but serious impairment is treated seriously.

I read somewhere.........I can't find it, that the accident among all drivers rate statistically does not start to go up until the BAC hits .11.

If no one drank period.would that eliminate fatal accidents on our roads and highways?
If no one drank would the accident rate drop signifigantly?
I think the answer is no,but some one might be able to correct me.
I know I pass alot of accidents on my way to work in the morning.

I would say it would definitely eliminate the ones caused by impaired driving.

They are. Especially the morons who think they can text and drive at the same time.

For sure,When my boss starts sending me texts asking whats going on I allways tell him to phone as I have now pulled off the road, thats time his machinery isnt making money when im sitting there. He rarely sends me text messages now cuz everyone costs him ten minutes of lost machine hours. heh heh!

LOL. Responding with "sitting here on the side of the road texting with you" sends quite a clear message. :)

Drivers on their cell phones are a far greater hazard IMO.

For sure but mainly because there is more of them, however I am starting to see quite a few cell phone users parked while on the phone!

Not surprising as there's lot who think they can suck and blow at the same time.
