Vic got his today, the Internet struck back publishing his divorce that took place some years
ago. I think everything that is embarrassing should be unleashed on these folks and let them
taste what its like to have people attack them like they want to attack others by invading their
privacy.
Maybe someone should unleash stuff on the former Tories as well like Stockwell Day and his
days in Bentley Alberta. What a piece of work he was back then. If the Tories want to get
personal then the whole works should be personal even their stuff. What is good for the goose
is good for the gander.

I wonder what Vic Toews would have to say about this verdict?;)

EDMONTON - Two Edmonton men who had videotaped sex with a pair of 14-year-old girls were acquitted Tuesday of child porn charges after a judge ruled the tapes were for private use.
Donald Barabash, 63, and Shane Rollison, 45, were both found not guilty of making child porn and Barabash was also found not guilty of possessing child porn.
Court heard the two men and the two girls - described as sexually active, drug-using runaways - willingly participated in the videotaping of various sexual activities at an inner-city home in late March and early April of 2008.
Interestingly, the alleged offences happened the month before Parliament raised the age of consent from 14 to 16.
Judge Denny Thomas concluded the video recordings were child pornography as the two girls were both under the age of 18 at the time and therefore both Barabash and Rollison had made child porn.
Thomas also concluded Barabash was in possession of child porn as the sex tapes were found in his home.
However, he accepted the defence of private use exception which stems from a controversial 2001 Supreme Court decision in which a B.C. man was acquitted of child porn possession based on the fact the material did not depict unlawful sex acts and was for private use only.
Thomas ruled the recorded sexual activity was legal, the recording was in the control of the person who had recorded it and all of the participants in the recording were aware of and consented to the recording.
The Crown had argued the private use exception should not apply because it involves a situation involving the “exploitation or abuse of children” as a result of the age differences, the type of sex acts and the use of drugs.
“In my view, the Crown’s approach can be fairly summarized as being that an evaluation of the entire scenario in which the video recordings were generated reveals a kind of conduct that should be a target for criminal sanction,” said Thomas. “Many would probably agree.”
However, the judge added that would lead to a kind of a “taste test” where courts would have to determine which legal sexual activity does or does not qualify as child pornography when recorded.
Thomas said it would also create a “dangerous risk” to the very young adolescents whom the private use exemption was intended to protect.
“I see a real danger that an assessment in this manner could criminalize conduct by young persons, which is otherwise entirely legal, absent the presence of a camera,” he said.
“My conclusion is that the courts have only the most limited role to evaluate whether privately held recordings of a young person’s nudity or legal sexual activity are of a quality and kind that ought to be subject to criminal sanction as child pornography,” said Thomas.
Court heard police seized the sex tapes and charged the two men after an investigation triggered by one of the teens posting a picture on the social networking website Nexopia showing her biting the other teen’s naked breast.

Given the thrashing Vic the Prick is taking on Twitter, and on Evan Solomon last night, he's probably at home, viewing these tapes (for purely judicial reasons of course), and "attempting to go blind" in the process.----Lead by pigs, in the trough with pigs, thinking like pigs might.

Give'em hell Vick. If they're not with ya, they're with the kiddy porners.

What a fukking maroon - so sayeth Bugs Bunny.

They're calling it 'vikileaks'.... *snickers*

Online surveillance bill teaches Conservatives tough social-media lesson

In their tough-on-crime approach to legislation, the Conservatives are learning a tough lesson.

Mess with the Internet and it's going to mess with you.

Social-media networks and comment pages exploded Wednesday in opposition to the Harper government's introduction of Bill C-30, which would give police and spies easier access to information about Internet users.

And the centrepiece of the campaign was an anonymous Twitter account purporting to leak details of Public Safety Minister Vic Toews' divorce records.

"Vic wants to know about you. Let's get to know about Vic," wrote @vikileaks before beginning an information dump that also juxtaposed details about the minister's home life with his public comments on family values.

As of Thursday morning, the account had over 6,000 followers and inspired hundreds of comments, photo collages and jokes.

Toews was quick to condemn the posts.

"I won't get involved in this kind of gutter politics," he said on his own Twitter account, which has a fraction of the followers of his anonymous attacker.

"Engaging in or responding to this kind of discussion leads nowhere."

Public court records of Toews' divorce have been available for several years, but no major news organizations have pursued the story.

Online campaigns against legislation have been successful in the past, albeit not one that tackled a minister's personal life.

Why has no one mentioned the fact that this past election was the record low for Canadian turn out at the polls?
Or the fact that there could be NO ELECTION COVERAGE before the polls
Or even still that online you couldn't find a docket for their political agenda?

The fact that Conservatives managed to get that Majority Vote based in total on No information process through to "us little people" has always made me wonder.

The Idea that "if your not with us, your against us." has been ground in the mud and ripped a new A-hole a number of times but i find it discomforting to find that so many people are targeting that phrase (no matter how abhorrently arrogant the phrase is); and ignoring the questions above.

I doin't know why this bill is so shocking to everyone Honestly Canada has signed ACTA which was the door opener, the flood gate if you will for more privacy reoval operations with in our country. It's quickly turning in to the big brother syndrome.

However the fact that people complain on internet forums isn't going to change anything. Well what can we do about it?

Petition? <- They don't listen
Rally against? <-They'll run you down with the Mounted police at a peaceful protest.

Run for political office in order to change the ways of democracy? <-un huh, you could try that but somehow i doubt it would work.

What is there left for us to do?

Become informed and come the next election Void your ballot saying (I'll vote when there is someone worth voting for). If that doesn't get some attention... well we could always go to those undesirables who managed to evade the Gun Registry and start preparing for the **** storm to hit.

Point?

You posted a rant... Change the name from Harper to any leader; past, present or future - and it would have applied quite accurately.

I'm laughing at all the details about Toews that are coming out on Twitter. They're quite amusing, for someone who rambles on about marriage and family.

I kind of think that what he wants to be able to do and what he will actually do are two very different things. I'm guessing 99% of us will never be a subject of scrutiny, but if say a couple of reports come in about Joe Blow at 999 Main St. is suspected of nefarious activities, the authorities can jump on it in a matter of minutes and apprenhend the guy without a whole pile of red tape, that just costs the 99% a pile money, it's a good thing.

Funny, seems the police had no problems laying child pornography charges last week during that big bust using our existing laws. The cops do not need more powers, this is the most illogical proposal to come out of our governments in ages.

The official government spin was that they only caught 60 pornographers out of a possible 900. Without this legislation, the rest of us are standing with the pornographers and apparently in the way of justice..

Justice usually requires evidence, but ironically, there are reports which show that there is no evidence that these measures are required or even satisfactory to deal with the pedobears.

The fact that they're going to change the bill is an admission that they really f'd up.

Ridiculous, do they actually think they'll catch 100% with their new proposed law? Has the government been briefed on how easy is is to use encrypted VPN's and proxies to bypass this sort of thing? Can't wait to have a five dollar monthly increase on my internet bill to pay for this BS...

I think the cops need more powers to catch ALL of the bastards- some is only a start!

Maybe not all but 600 of the bastards would be a lot more impressive. These bastards are even worse or at least as bad as the ones who push drugs on kids. As far as I'm concerned they should all get the needle.
