And doing something with one's life does not necessarily mean going for the cash and material goods.

You are right, it doesn't necessarily mean that, Cliffy..............but being able to put some type of roof over your head and decent food on the table while meeting your obligations as a member of our society, dictates that some cash and some material goods are in fact very necessary.

Jesus! I thought Geezus was a commie. I guess one has to take what he said with a grain of salt?
I never understood the phenomenon of the far right being mostly Christians. Jesus' teaching were definitely left wing socialist. Perhaps, the right have air tight compartmentalized brains and never the twain shall meet.

Northern Ontario,
The extreme left and the extreme right are more similar than you might think....if you've ever heard of the horseshoe theory....;-)
Maybe that's why Liberals like Ron Paul so much:lol:

Really! Take care of the poor, you are your brother's keeper, love thy neighbour as thyself, etc. The man was a lefty, pure and simple.

And who's taking care of the poor Cliffy more than any other identifiable group? The Christians. Wells are dug, orphanages get built, and children that God hasn't forgotten about receive things like shoes, medicine, education, and surgeries for cleft palates and crossed eyes.

And why? I can understand their religious beliefs moving them to take care of the sick and poor, but it does not equate with their right wing political beliefs. It is a dichotomy that boggles the mind.

Taking care of the poor is not an exclusively left wing notion like you think it is. There's no hypocrisy between it and holding Conservative values.

He never said the govmint should do all that.

Not of right-wing thinkers, only of left-wing radicals.

Because there were no commas in Between's diatribe, I read it as "Who's taking care of the poor Cliffy..." I thought, "My Gawd, is Cliffy ill or indigent?"
Needless to say, I was relieved!

I am not ill, but some times I feel like I'm talking to a phuking wall!

Actually, I realized that this thread has been of great help to me in that it has been a process of synthesizing a lot of the knowledge I have accumulated over the last few decades. For this I am very grateful for the opportunity adapted has presented.
