They did for almost 1500 years until the reformation tried to steal part of it. Now everybody and their brother thinks they have a handle on Gawd. Do you think Gawd has been torn asunder (shredded) to accommodate this strata ownership thingy? Peoples are funny critters.
The Reformation was always active. And I think God can handle things quite well. After all he made Billions of us now didn't he.

The number 12 simply represents "people" according to the bible. Hence the 12 tribes of Israel.
It figures that an ANGLICAN Church would present something that is so wildly against the Biblical teachings.

ROTFL........Perhaps that was his original aim, destroy the failed experiment through over breeding. Instill "faith" then command the flock to go forth and multiply themselves out of existence. Seems to be working really well.

Taken in its metaphorical significance, the 12 tribes of Israel represents the signs of the zodiac. But literalists would never accept that. They miss the whole point of the book.
What's you opinion of the other numbers which represent different things according to the bible?
3 = God (because of the trinity)
4 = Nature
7 = Perfection (3 + 4, or God + nature)
interestingly enough: 3 x 4 = 12 (God x nature = people)
