To me, religion is like the kindergarten of spirituality. Once hooked, most never graduate. Religion is just a finger pointing the way, but most stop to suck on it for spiritual nourishment instead of going off in the direction it is pointing. They cling to it as if letting go would drop them into the abyss of the unknown - which it does, but that is part of the adventure. Among the many things in the bible that people don't follow is the one about - "Seek and ye shall find. Ask and ye shall receive". The big mistake, to me anyway, is that once they find the book, they think they don't need to go any farther. The book is just a sign post. Most can't seem to go beyond the sign, kinda like flat earthers afraid to fall off the edge.
