Maybe I'm just ignorant to the maneuverings of BC Social Services but there doesn't seem to have been much done in recent history to remedy the problem. No politician seems willing to remove their 'religious rights'. No police force seems willing to risk having a standoff with dozens of crying wives and scared children on their hands. So long as everyone stays quiet, orderly, and keeps paying taxes, the government will keep looking the other way on it.

They knew what was going on for decades.
They will find a mess of child abuse, bride shopping across the border - Women moved from the US to Canada.Young men forced out of the community so as to lessen competition between the males and the shortage of women.

It will also be sent in one way or another to the SCOC.

So in essence, and someone can feel free to correct me if I'm just being jaded, the government is maintaining the illegality of polygamous marriages simply so that they have some extra leverage if and ever they feel like finally getting around to enforcing child protection laws?

That about sums it up. You could also say that BCers are all talk. Whine and complainabout it, but not do anything about it. They would rather wag their fingers and cluck their tongues at the hedonistic so they can feel morally superior, all the while ignoring the real immorality going on right under their noses.

Go back to bed nuggler. This is all beyond your mental capacity.

I have to admit even I didn't quite get the correlation since I've never found a direct line between a person's stance on either of those issues. A very large segment of the polyamorist women I know are staunchly feminist and pro-choice. But, to get into that would be, well, even more highjacking on an already riddled thread.

You're right to an extent but it also comes down to what you believe about due process. As I stated repeatedly, its very difficult for the prosecutor to do much because of the religious and parental complications that accompany these types of communities. Unless we want to suspend parental rights or infringe on freedom of religion, its hard to get the kids to voluntarily come forward and claim they are being abused, and thus provide the protection of social services. And I don't think its just a BC thing: the criminal code and constitution are national documents. The right of consenting adults to live how they choose is just collateral damage in the attempts to avoid legal quicksand in going after these abusers.

Right on, Talloola....................why can't a person simply say "I disagree because...................................."? I know smart retorts are tempting and I do them myself, but I try to keep a humourous tone to them. I personally believe calling a poster "a brain dead bitch" should be good for a month "sitting on the bench".

yeah, thats a head scratcher for sure.

Ok, I hadn't replied to the message you are referring to because I did not see it. I had you on ignore. I decided to take you off ignore because of quoted comments I had seen you make and a message I received.

So what is you want from me vi? You bitch when I reply to your messages, and you bitch when I don't.
Okay - I am just coming across this post now. I bitch when you reply to my messages by calling me rude names. What do I want from you? Just be civil. I never asked to be your friend or for you to even like me. I've never done anything to you to make you call me the vile names that you do. All you have to do is offer up your opinion on a thread - not on what you think of me personally. I'm never going to meet you in person so I don't care if you like me. I do care about being called vile names for absolutely no reason. Can't you just disagree with my posts without insulting me or calling me names? You are over 50 years old - probably close to 52 in fact so we just are not all that far apart in age. Surely you can handle the words "I disagree or I don't agree". We don't have to like each other to address each other from time to time. Quit calling me names and I won't pick at you. You were decent enough at one time a long time ago to help me out with a problem I was having with my key board moving to French. I appreciated your help and while - again- we were never friends, you were at least civil. Why can't you be like that now?

Feminists usually say government has no business involving itself with one's activities in the privacy of their bed room. Therefore, this should not come as a surprise.

What is surprising (well, not really) is how right wingers also say government has no business intruding on one's private or business life. Yet these people have no trouble with government intervening in the bed room. Therefore, the government should not limit a person's prerogative in determining how one defines a family or marital situation. At least this is or should be so in theory.

Yes he can with the parents consent. That is the catch to places like Bountiful, the men are all in it together. Women have no say in much of anything. They simply breed daughters for each other.

Right, I mixed up having sex and getting married.

Polygamy is wrong nowadays because because young girls lose control of their fertility. They lose choice here. Personal choice is what the modern age is all about. Arranged marraiges are now out. It's a bit difficult to live in the wider society and tell others that your parents told you who to marry.

No, that is why places like Bountiful are wrong. Polygamy is not about marrying children.

I don't think that has much clout in a place like bountifull, they can put whatever they want on paper,
and deny anyone was 14 when they married.

This is when the govt is supposed to register births so this sort of scam cannot happen. The govt needs to find out when someone is born so their rights can be protected. Easy to do. The govt is the ultimate arbitrater.

I am not going to debate you any further on this because it's been quite awhile since you've made an idiot out of yourself and people still have stuff to say here on this topic,.

Typical idiotic comment from the brainless twit but I'll let it slide since he obviously doesn't know his own Bible.

My own Bible? What part of the planet stupid are you from Gopher? Seriously, give your head a shake. Did that sperm depository you came from have so many hogs inside it that has caused you suffer from shaken fetal syndrome. You really are a god damned idiot who just doesn't know when to stop making a fool out himself.
