. I feel the same way about 95 percent of Mennonite and Hutterite women I see. The lack of plural marriages doesn't help when you're being isolated from societu and raised in a sort of cult

Feel free to ask the mods who all I neg rep. Or just ask the friends you think I excuse or ignore. You decided to insult someone on a family level that took it too far. I called you on it. If you can't handle that, when you're more than willing to call out behaviour you see as beyond acceptable, then put me on ignore and I'll do the same for you.

See, I really can't see North American society jumping into polygamous relationships easily. Hell, people have a hard time committing to one person. And two people have a hard enough time staying married, imagine 3 or 4 or more? We were brought up on Disney and 50's ideas of marriage. I really doubt there is any sizeable portion of our society about to run out and jump into a polygamous marriage. Even most polyamorists I know (and I'm one of them), wouldn't.

If gerry felt I was insulting him on a family level (and I just quoted his words of "my wife completes me") why didn't he come back with one of his usual vile insults instead of you coming at me? Have you ever once objected to the vile names and insults given to me by gerry? No - you have not. What you did one time was to take a thread that was in the wrong forum, (when you were a mod) and move it to the right forum and then tell me to stop commenting indicating that you would give me a time out. I never made a negative comment on the thread when it was in the "right" forum. There was no reason for you to say anything to me but you made it your business to do so then. I left these pages for over a year because of 3 of you. When I did finally decide to have a look here again, I knew beforehand that if you were still a mod, I would stay away.
I'm more grown up than to put anyone on ignore but please - feel free. I would be more than happy to have you put me on ignore.

edit.... I'm not going to get down into the slop of personal insults with you. You crossed a line, I gave you a negative. End of story.

Ok, I hadn't replied to the message you are referring to because I did not see it. I had you on ignore. I decided to take you off ignore because of quoted comments I had seen you make and a message I received.

So what is you want from me vi? You bitch when I reply to your messages, and you bitch when I don't.

I can't answer for others, but I know what mine was. "Let me know when you're done,"
and then ignore them or leave for a while. I'm not married anymore. Don't do the
drama thing well, I guess. Last time I left (almost two decades ago), I didn't return.

If you ignore something (hard enough, long enough, often enough) like the spouse screaming
at you....is it really happening anymore if it isn't effective? Take this cat for example:

In his world, is there really a Husky out the window if he doesn't acknowledge its existance?

priceless

come on guys. gerry's been a royal ass plenty on the forum. he's also been infracted, banned, neg repped, private messaged, and called out. He doesn't whine about it. Someone having been a jerk in the past doesn't give one permission to attack them on a family level and then WHINE, INCESSANTLY, for getting a neg rep for it.

Oh, come on....anyone remember this:

B.C. Supreme Court upholds ban on polygamy

Ok.... so what? This just means nothing has changed. So does that mean bountiful continues to get a pass when it comes to child abuse? This ban has been around for years, and they still haven't done anything about bountiful, so what is now different that we should expect different results from previous years?

vi doesn't warrant my respect anymore than you do.

It seems to me they do very little to protect the children involved.

That's right, they haven't. I want to know how upholding an existing law against polygamy is going to change things. I want to know what is different now that would mean a different result from the past. I want to know how this court case would ensure that children were not being abused and traded from North to South and South to North.

It won't. They'll pat themselves on the back for having 'done' something and carry on letting the men take child brides.

Right on, Talloola....................why can't a person simply say "I disagree because...................................."? I know smart retorts are tempting and I do them myself, but I try to keep a humourous tone to them. I personally believe calling a poster "a brain dead bitch" should be good for a month "sitting on the bench".

Well if you guys think the mods were wrong to delete her post, perhaps you ought to PM them and stop highjacking the thread.

First Karrie, I never saw the post. Second I was only responding in general terms to Talloola's post where she stated the term "brain dead bitch" had been used and I was just responding in agreement to her post. I have no idea whether or not the mods should have removed the post. Just objecting to name calling in general.

If someone corrects an issue, why bring it back up in a post that has nothing to do with the past occurrence? Gerry's very clearly had VI on ignore for a while now.

Let me reiterate... if you think you got a neg unfairly, or a post was deleted unfairly, take it up with the mods via PM. Stop highjacking the thread to whine about it.

I fully agree with that Karrie, but I wasn't complaining about getting a neg rep or having a post removed, only agreeing with a post.

I'm happy for you. I believe in calling a spade a spade. Now, it you and the 2 resident ........... are finished complaining, can we get back to the OP?

It won't. They'll pat themselves on the back for having 'done' something and carry on letting the men take child brides.

So, in other words...BC law enforcement officials, BC polititions, and by extension those that voted them into power, are all aiding and abetting, if not out right supporting, through their continued in action, child brides, child abuse, and pedophilia.

Maybe I'm just ignorant to the maneuverings of BC Social Services but there doesn't seem to have been much done in recent history to remedy the problem. No politician seems willing to remove their 'religious rights'. No police force seems willing to risk having a standoff with dozens of crying wives and scared children on their hands. So long as everyone stays quiet, orderly, and keeps paying taxes, the government will keep looking the other way on it.

To be specific about it, the Atty. General we had some years back, decided in his wisdom to investigate the illegality (what every one else in the province over age 6 already knew) of polygamy as he wanted to make sure he wasn't stepping on anyone's toes. You would think the A.G. would have access to the book of the laws of Canada. He should have just enforced that law, charged those in violation and the whole operation in Bountiful would have been greatly curtailed if not shut down altogether. No one nowadays wants to take responsibility for a decision. Of course they had to bring religion into it. As far as I'm concerned laws do not recognize specific religions and give one religion rights over others. Now, Gerry you've heard a guy call "a spade a spade".
