If they really trusted in Gawd, they wouldn't need those trillions of dollars worth of armaments. I believe their military is there because they do not trust Gawd to do the job they think needs to be done, that is to blow the crap out of their enemies.

And yes, Smackman, Canada is following in Big Brother's foot steps (Thank you Mr. Harpo!)

This doesn't answer anything. The US is not a peacemaker. Iraq was an unprovoked war which has resulted in a million deaths and millions of refugee.
Peace has never been brokered at the end of a rifle barrel. To think so is ludicrous.

It that not a rather meaningless motto for a nation in which only about a quarter of the population attend church on a regular basis? Yes, I know polls show that 40% of Americans claim to attend church weekly, but more recent studies have shown that many of these supposed worshipers actually lie about their church attendance, placing the real number much closer to the 25% mark. In fact a study conducted in 2000, in which actual numbers of people walking through church doors were counted, found numbers as low as 20%.

I am always amazed at the number of American politicians who feature god prominently in their public statements. In most Western democracies such comments would actually hamper their political ambitions.

What are you talking about? God told the Israelites to defend themselves and defeat their enemies - with their military. Remember when David finished off the Philistines? Read:

Once more the Philistines raided the valley; so David inquired of God again, and God answered him, "Do not go straight up, but circle around them and attack them in front of the balsam trees. As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, move out to battle, because that will mean God has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army." So David did as God commanded him, and they struck down the Philistine army, all the way from Gibeon to Gezer. So David’s fame spread throughout every land, and the Lord made all the nations fear him.

That's the same God in the American motto.

Everyone's "pro-peace", but sometime conflict is necessary to ensure that peace. If you believe in complete pacifism, where we're never willing to fight our enemies, we'd be taken over a long time ago!

God hasn't showed his face down here fr a few thousand years. How do you know it is the same god they are talking about? And quoting from a book that I think is a fairy tale doesn't convince me of anything. Quote Lord of the Rings would resonate more.

If you are going to fight to preserve what you have, you defend your home turf. What the west has been doing is going to foreign lands and taking their resources to feed their endless greed. If your god support that sort of shyte, Phuque 'im.

You really are quite naive, aren't you.

I was kidding. C'mon Cliffy... know me! :p

Reality is in the eye of the beholder. I would rather believe in fiction than lies.

Reality is not in the eye of the beholder. Truth is the highest form of reality and something is either true or it isn't. It has nothing to do with how you feel, what you think or how you perceive it.
