Oh, forgive me, please allow me to clarify.

A salary of $75,000 puts you in the top 1% in the world. This whining about the 1% in the US simply shows how myopic most of these protestors are; they would be among the very well off elsewhere, even with the tents in a park.

Well fed, well coddled, with all the toys imaginable, they still act like they're oppressed.

Is that better?

You said a mouthfull. Our so called poor live better off than most the world. They have no clue what real poverty is.

I was going to put a picture here of what poverty looks like in the rest of the world but it is far to revolting.

LOL

Oh now you care about the rest of the world.

Locotus never cared about the rest of the world?

Looks like the 99% just became 98% because they want to exclude the 1% homeless. Isn't the irony grand!

The cook staff is tired of working long hours for free loaders, homeless and ex-cons. Hello? That is what you are all about... wealth distribution. The homeless, etc are the "have nots" and you Occupiers are the "haves". Spread the wealth.

I used to want the cold weather to sweep in. Now I really want the weather to get better. This entertainment is just too good.

There is a difference between the Tea Party and the Occupy Wall Street groups in fact
there is more than one difference.
First the Tea Party is managed and driven in the background by wealthy people with a
specific agenda. Their rabble is on the front line spouting rhetoric that they scarcely
know what it means. Big Oil is behind the Tea Party movement and they recruit those
who have lost their dreams to do their bidding. It will be some time down the road before
they know what they have done.
The Occupy Wall Street group are in fact a disorganized group of rabble that believe if they
curb the wealthy they will begin to realize their dreams coming back through government
legislation.
The common thread is, in the eyes of the vast majority on both sides of the equation is that
both groups are entrenched rabble, with a distorted view of the past, present and future. In
the end the occupy wall street group will be around a lot longer than the Tea Party.
Don't think so? The Tea Party is hard hitting in your face action without regard for anyone
who is not on their side. That wears well, for a short time and then they become more and
more divided. Four years from now this group will be reviled, because they have promised
a quick solution, and harsh measures. Every one knows the world is not made up of quick
solutions and all solutions have casualties.
Ah, the Occupy Wall Street crowd. They have an identified enemy, right or wrong this enemy
we can all relate to. Instead of creating a system where everyone can take part to building a
better tomorrow, they are going to first punish those rich people the Wall Street Crowd. They
are disorganized right now but soon the real face of this movement will show up. Those who
once collected money for saving the whales, the environment and a host of other causes.
They will convince the world that we have to curb the wealth of the world and use the money
for you guessed it, Saving the Whales, the Environment and a host of other causes.
Don't get me wrong here, I support some of what they are saying. We do need to bring back
sane regulations so big banks, mortgage companies and so on are made to be responsible.
It is obvious they won't behave properly on their own. The worst thing that can be done is
discouraging people from making a fortune, with a great idea. To destroy someone Else's dream
to satisfy your own dream will not work and has never worked throughout history.
One group wants the world to do their bidding to protect their wealth and position, that being the
real face behind the Tea Party. The other group believes in fencing in those who are trying to
create wealth, and they will stifle the dream of the inventor and investor in the hope they can
even the economic playing field and create some kind of grand utopia.
Here are the facts, as I see them. Occupy Wall Street will gain momentum as time goes on as
these people are better grass roots organizers and have demonstrated that over the past four
decades. The Tea Party will be labelled, branded defined and destroyed in the long run. This
of course will cause Occupy Wall Street to implode like all the other causes and you and I will
be worse off for it.
Both sides of society need each other. One is needed to create dreams, Ideas and Wealth, with
opportunities for all. The other side is needed to remind everyone in our society that we need to
pay attention to the human condition, and with wealth and opportunities there must be a benefit
for all or their will be consequences. What are the consequences? well organizations like the
Tea Party and the Occupy Wall Street Movements. Yes we are back to the beginning because
we have a divided society right now in which Fear is the prime motivator.
The rich are in fear of losing their wealth and status and the poor fear going back to pre WWII
conditions.
The reason they are in fear of course is both sides of society, lived too high, they both got greedy
and all are feeling entitled to the wealth of the nation and that wealth has already been consumed
and everyone has to get back to work to rebuild it. I am on neither side, as I realize it takes both
sides to get us back to building a functioning society again.

Some people through words around without knowing the facts and that is not acceptable
in my view. I hear this talk about cushy civil service pensions all the time. My wife has
a federal service pension it amounts to about 19 thousand a year for over twenty six years
of service. That to me is not a cushy pension at all, as she paid into it big time over her
working life.
I know several others who worked for the Feds or the Provincial Governemtn and I don't
think they are cushy pensions at all. In many cases there are people out there who
resent anyone having a pension because they themselves didn't put any money away for
retirement.
Oh and yes there are medical and dental benefits but of course they were also shared
costs up front while being employed. I personally believe that these same benefits are
available through retirement benefits in the private sector. If not then some people need a
union to make sure the companies work with employees to provide them.

I have my own pensions and I say plural because I worked in a number of fields over time
and I save money to boot. In a few years I will leave farming and I Will not really retire for
I think that would kill me.
All too often we have a skewed view of others and sometimes reality as we believe others
are so much better off and it just ain't so. I don't resent anyone's pension as long as they
earned it. Now there are some cases where they did not earned or they are excessive
and those should be brought to light in a factual manner. A few things come to mind though.

What do we believe is unearned or unfair and who determines that
How do we correct that situation?
And how do we ensure that pensions are fair.

This is where I stopped reading.

I worked for the Feds at one time. Worst paying job of my life.

What did you do?

I worked for the Feds at one time. Worst paying job of my life.

Originally, that was the idea: government jobs didn't pay top dollar, but they had more security and better benefits.

Now they want the best of both worlds.

Indexed defined benefit plans should be outlawed.

Half of the so called protestors on site don't have a clue what they are even protesting about. Some of the idiots in Toronto sound like a bunch of blithering baboons when interviewed. They all should be ordered to move, and if they don't, arrest the whole bunch of them.

How come it always the U.S. that is compared when gaps between rich and poor are discussed.

The temperature is dropping and torrential rains are about to hit NYC tonight. (45 degrees, rain and wind)
