You just described Ventura so I got confused. I don't think that fits the description of RCS accurately.

First, ES did NOT specify pre-columbian Mayans, he just stated Mayans. Both ebtfet and Bar Sinister are correct in their statements that Mayans, or Maya, still live in Southern Mexico, Central America and Northern South America. The term Maya or Mayan is interchangeable.

These Maya are the direct descendants of the Mayans that were defeated by the Spaniards. To say other wise would be the same as stating that the 6 Nations peoples no longer exist, or the Sioux.
