Sorry, as much as i dislike PET, I am a Canadian, not a Dominionian.
What's with the hang up with PET?? He is dead and gone. Sure , some of his changes are still in effect and many of them were good ones that made Canada unique . Don't see an issue with being bi lingual. In todays world , the more languages one knows the better off one is and the more employable .
He gave Canada an identity by his own personna.
Better than the warmonger non descriptive vanilla , US wannabe we have in power now. We who reside here are all CANADIANS...... not sure what the squabble over terminology is except to show oneself as being more than a little petty.
Sorry if that is a tad harsh..........but sheesh. Lets try and be adult about things. There are too many REAL and BIG problems in the world now to fret about vernacular.
Perhaps we need to examine our own expectations of these leaders. They are humans with human failings. Not one is a "hero" as such. Some are just better LEADERS than others. Some are better politicians than others. They come with their own agendas and pet projects . Politics as usual.
Every now and then along comes a leader that is a bit more special..... because of his/ her unique contributions to the leadership and nation.
No leader is liked by the entire population. ( unless said population is one of robots )
but they all give us loads of discussion material. and in discussing them and their policies we learn about each other along the way.
that is a good thing (IMHO)
