I can understand grunting like they do if they were trying to pull the head off of a camel, but indeed, it's not needed.

But at the same time, I don't mind it..... it's kinda kinky

Besides, as mentioned before, the men do it too.

Go back to using wooden racquets, soften the ball, and make the grounds slow the ball down so that power is no longer a part of the game. This will force the girls to hit the ball softer and not grunt so much.

It's too bad that the prettiest girl in Tennis, Maria Sharaprova, has the loudest grunt. The word 'grunt' doesn't do it justice.. it is a SCREAM.. blood curdling.. and reportedly intended to distract the concentration of her opponent. I can't watch it for long, even with the attraction of Maria.

There is always the option of "OFF" on the remote. What normal person would want to watch some who appear to be shemales whacking a hairy ball back and forth?

YukonJack, there are some very attractive female tennis players out there. I assume your shemale remark is pointed at the Williams sisters?

Well then, don't watch it.

You've shown that the reason you watch it is for sex appeal, which means that you don't watch it for the sport. Stick to soft core porn, then.

This is like people complaining about the yelling in curling.

yes, the yelling in curling is annoying too, I turn down the volume to watch, but have come
to the point where I don't watch much any more, and I remember when that sport was much
quieter, seems they do that hollering to make the sport more exciting for some to watch,
doesn't work for me.
I like the 'actual' sport, not the special effects.

I figure when I can do what they can do, then I can bitch about how they do it.

It is dissapointing reading about how the males view the female tennis players, and it seems they
really don't know much about the game itself, just looking at body parts, clothing, etc.

the enjoyment of the game includes being relaxed and focused on the match, but the screaming certainly
gets in the way for me, down goes the volume again.

Yeah, I hate unnecessary noise too. Like these idiots who drive around town with all windows open and the boom box blaring obscenities at 3500 decibels. They just seem to think the whole world loves to hear it.

Does that same line of thinking apply to politicians too? ;-)

When I played curling a few years back, none of us screamed and yelled.... we said "Yep"..... and "Wo" at a volume they could hear us from a distance.... and we didn't have to keep saying it..... when one of us said "Yep" or "Sweep", you swept until you were told otherwise, or vice versa.

A couple of times we got a little carried away having fun and tried to emulate those clowns on TV with the screaming..... I remember one throw I was screaming using a teenager's puberty-cracked voice as loud as I could and one of my friends sweeping cracked up laughing, slipped and fell to the ice.

Don't know that your comment has any actual basis. I am a long standing fan of womens pro tennis and am a lifetime member of wtaforums.com. Most of the comments about the players looks acutally come from female fans. And, indeed, most of the fans (both male & female) are very knowledgeable about womens pro tennis.

Shemales is a pretty derogatory term, YukonJack.

Also, the normal people that watch men and woman play tennis would be called tennis fans. I happen to be amongst that group.

To paraphrase Winston Churchill- Never have so many been so pissed off for so long by such few words from one poster! (People's tastes and preferences vary & as long as they aren't harming someone are perfectly acceptable)
