Yeah, Blame the Jew.
What have the Jews done to deserve Bettman?
Yeah, Blame the Jew.
I would still like to see a Canadian team win the Stanley Cup, but after that malicious display of brutality, I don't really care any more.
Somebody please cheer me up by telling me that Rome is in jail where he belongs.
YukonJack; I would still like to see a Canadian team win the Stanley Cup said:Put it in a "drawer" called "SH*T HAPPENS" and enjoy the rest of the series. I doubt if Rome is the jerk you make out, but if he is why should he destroy your fun?
They need a sport to call their own. It would do them good to play sand hockey against the Arabs. What have the Jews done to deserve Bettman?
That is bullsh*t - you don't jeopardize the whole team's chances for a Stanley Cup, based on the conduct of one player. I'm quite sure Rome didn't intend to maim the guy. Would this be that assh*le Bettman's doing? 8O
The reason he got suspended for 4 games(the remainder of the Finals) is that Horton is gone for the duration as well. He is said to have a severe concussion, so who knows if he will even be able to play at the start of next year's pre-season? If Horton had not been as severely injured, I suspect that it would have been a 2 game suspension instead.
This was not his first game misconduct in this post-season, so that was probably a factor as well. Both teams lose a player due to this. Vancouver loses Rome and Boston loses Horton.
Hmm... I don't get hockey. Someone explain this "late hit" for me please. If Rome had hit Horton "on time" would he not have been knocked out and taken away on a stretcher?
So it's legal to hit someone in such a way as to knocked them out and be taken away on a stretcher. That's a little screwy.

There is going to be so much animosity that you will just see Boston getting hit twice as hard with legal hits for the rest of the series and I say bring it on. Tea drinking old grannys!
Cold blooded! You don't see me bashing your Canadians... quit bashing our Canadians!
The hit was late though and that was an uneven swap. I KNOW if Boston took out one of Vancouver's key players there would be a different tune.
All's fair in love and war.
And this... is neither love or war.
I hope my Canadians beat yours!

Don't you mean you hope your Canadians beat Hongcouver's Swedes?
Edit - I'll say this about the hit on Horton too. In the NHL of even last year, it might have been OK. It was late, no question... late enough for an interference call is debatable, but it was a blindside hit and the main force went high, onto Horton's head. Now I'll say that Horton should have had his head up to protect himself, but the way the rules are now, and the way the suspensions have been handed out, there is no way Rome was avoiding several games for this. Yes, NHL supplemental discipline under Colin Campbell is a joke, but Rome is guilty of a late, blind-side hit, contacting (if not actually targeting) the head. Thats 3 strikes in one. And yes if that was a Sedin or Kessler, there would riots in the streets that it was only 4 games in Vancouver.

I hate to quote myself, but since what I said earlier proved to be overly optimistic and hopeful, I have to retract.
I lost interest in hockey, because the beauty and skill of the 1972 Canada-Soviet Series in 1972 became the rule of the bully in the NHL, as examplefied by Philadelphia in 1974 and then adding insult to injury, in 1975.
Rome's vicious, wicked and malicious hit, while it may have been only a half a second late, was a late hit, and it reminded me what a sick and violent game hockey is. Half a second would have been, SHOULD have been enough for him to turn his skates. But NOOOO! The bastard had to maim and hurt and hit.

The suspension is bullsh*t ( I myself would prefer to see pure hockey but Bettman (assh*le) doesn't ask my opinion) so hitting is part of the game...........................1/2 second late..............what was he supposed to be doing? watching the clock? Now if it was board from behind, that would be a different story. The decision should be appealed forthwith.

rome's hit on horton did not come under the new (east/west blind sided hit), that was confirmed by
the league, even though horton was still watching his pass when he was hit, it was not considered
blind sided.
that new rule is very definite that it is only east/west,blindside, but north/south hits, (as this one was)
is different.
In other words, it was in the flow of the play, and rome did not cross the ice to hit him. ( eg. cooke's hit on savard.)
The league stated the hit was legal, it was the timing of the hit that was illegal.
