The bureaucracy and the attitude there in that was identified by A-G Sheila Fraser as a major impediment to gun owner compliance as in the situation described below:

My latest conversation with gun control bureaucrats:

"Good Morning, RCMP Firearms Centre"

"Good Morning. I have a small problem. My license is broken, the actual card has broken in two, so I need it replaced."

"When does it expire?"

"Oct. 26, 2013"

"Oh. I will have to send you a form which you fill out and mail to us with your license"

"I have to send you my license?"

"Yes, we can't have two licenses out at once"

"But then I won't have a license" (and will be in violation of the law)

"That's right."

" Nevermind. You people are idiots"

Click

Like, what the hell is wrong with mailing out a license to the address they have listed by registered mail, thus having me sign for it........and making it clear the old license has to be destroyed????

Quicker.

Cheaper.

In full compliance with the law.

But it means I have to be treated as if I were trustworthy.....and all gun owners must be treated worse than criminals. Or made criminals by listening to the idiots from the RCMP.

"Sorry officer, I don't have my license, I mailed it to you guys."

Yeah, right.

I just know it is in the small print somewhere. Gun owners are to be treated like criminally insane children

AND there are lots of people out there that require a Firearms License to work.....I was one for many years, and you don't have to be carrying a pistol. Simply handling firearms in a store requires you to be licensed....

Idiotic......and just one example of many.

Sorry dude I have to call bull**** on this one. If you lost your license then you couldn't mail it in. So it's silly to ask someone to send in a license to be replaced. If this is a fact then the guy you were talking to must be misinformed. Not the first time. You can if you like download the form from the RCMP website, fill it out and have replacement sent out to your home.

Further there is a damaged box under reasons to replace license and no requirement to send in the damaged one.
So when you act like criminally insane children you have to expect to be treated that way.

Go nuts!

No, not a reading problem.

You can order a replacement card for a lost, stolen, damaged, destroyed or other.

No reason scotch tape wouldn't make a reasonable repair.

No bull**** to it! The conversation took place.....verbatim, first posted (post1095 of this thread) within 15 minutes of it happening.

You have completely proven my point. The RCMP in this case tried to overstep the law, treating me as if I had criminal intent when, by the very fact I have the license, I have already been thoroughly vetted, and when there was absolutely no reason to do so.......

I think that is pretty damn good evidence of the "high handed bureaucratic system" we were discussing.

Thanks for the link, BTW, I will use it...........very handy. After the conversation, I didn't look any further. After 15 years of dealing with these idiots, I should have known better......I should tell you sometime about trying to move my firearms in compliance with the law. Every one of these idiots I talked to told me something different was required.......

Oh, and especially thanks for proving my point.

I did that....

But thanks to Unforgiven, I'll get it replaced........

Come on now you know the rules of evidence. What you posted is hearsay and while acceptable as anecdotal, is never going to fly as empirical evidence that the system is screwed.

I think that is pretty damn good evidence of the "high handed bureaucratic system" we were discussing.

So you don't understand the rules of empirical and anecdotal evidence? You could have been talking to the janitor for all you know. There is no rule that states bozos are limited to only working certain jobs. Doctors, lawyers and even security guards can be know nothing bozos with nothing better to do than flap their lips about stuff they don't have a clue about. So taking a phone call you had one day as proof of systemic high handed bureaucratic mismanagement is demeaning to your standing.

Why not look there first? Every time you need something, look for it first on the Internet and you will get a pretty good idea of how and where you will find it.

Oh, and especially thanks for proving my point.

You had a point? Seriously? Dude. Seriously?

Yeah, and if you had an IQ higher than the temperature of tepid water (and I mean rated on the Celcius scale) you'd know you'd been blown out of the water.......

Here's a surprise for you: this is NOT a court of law, and the conversation was the incident, and given to you first hand, and so is not even hearsay in a court of law........

Who doesn't understand the rules of evidence? Unless of course you are simply insinuating that I am a liar.....

And if the janitor is answering the phone and giving instructions from the RCMP Firearms Centre.....well, that is even MORE reason to dump the bloody thing. HIGH HANDED BUREAUCRACY........sans IQ.

A single incident?????

From personal knowledge;

Let's see.......I have had them demand to know where a handgun was that I have not been in possession of for 25 years. I had quite a discussion with the officer on the phone, I finally hung up on him. I called the NFA for advice (if you own a gun JOIN!!).....they said "Don't worry, the registration system is so screwed they can not charge you with anything.......you won't hear from them again."

They were correct.

So much for your idea that they can charge someone for selling a gun to a criminal, huh?????

A local police officer went in to transfer ownership of another handgun. Even though he had the registration forms etc., the weapon came up as unregistered.

He was charged.....thrown out of court because the system is so screwed.

My late brother once had his handguns checked after his house was burglarized and the individuals were caught with his guns..........
Two of three came back as unregistered............they both were, of course, but the system had them recorded incorrectly.

I moved a long time ago, and considering the extent and types of firearms I have, I called the Firearms Centre three months in advance to get all the necessary paperwork. I was advised completely incorrectly, and was absolutely in violation because I was instructed incorrectly............

Get everything in writing.

An acquaintaince altered a VERY expensive firearm as he was advised by the Chief Firearms Officer of NB in person, and subsequently, according to the understanding of the CFO of that time.....the weapon was de-registered........fifteen years later it was seized by the RCMP, with threats of prosecution.

From websites on the subject, especially from Garry Breitkreuz, Member of Parliament Yorkton - Melville.

Over 4000 guns that had been reported stolen were registered to new owners.

And just tons of other stuff.

The entire system is convoluted, confusing, insanely complicated, outrageously twisted, and quite possibly unconstitutional. And it has NOT LOWERED THE MURDER RATE ONE SINGLE IOTA!!!!!!

Which says it all.......it could be so simple.

It has got to go.

You should save your debating skills for a debate that is winnable......this one is not.

Sorry son, you actually have to blow someone out of the water, not just do a little dance and claim it is so. heh heh

Yeah you're a liar. A dirty ****ing liar and you always have been as far as I know. What did you think otherwise? No not quite Colpy. You thinking that some conversation you say you had and telling me what you claim some guy told you over the phone is so ****ing hearsay it's not even funny to laugh at you over.

He could tell you to quit humping the leg of the chair for all it matters. That you're too dumb to even bother going and getting the simple form off the website, filling it out and sending it in is the only IQ issue here and boy you stepped right into that one.

Good god man, you're losing it!

Sharing stories over a couple for beers doesn't extrapolate as the truth of the matter when providing proof. If it did I could say I know a guy who phoned the police and was given all the information that he needed quickly and without incident and so this proves that the system works perfectly and you're just an idiot who can't make a phone call properly. That I even have to point this out makes me feel pity for you.

Do you actually think posting likes from a pro gun site is going to be different some how than me posting the links from an anti gun website?

The system is simple and can easily be use. Fill out the forms, provide the documentation send it in the mail.
If it's confusing and too difficult for you then you shouldn't have a gun. It's that simple Colpy. Same as driving.

Having had NO experience of the system, you speak of how easy and wonderful and efficient it is.....then have the ignorance to tell me I don't know what I'm talking about.

The essence of this is that you are a ****ing moron. You have no clue about the subject on which you have so obviously chosen to troll, you have no clue about weapons, the laws of same..........nor do you have a clue about the concept of liberty, nor about the rights of man.....you are so far out of your depth, you can't even see that you are drowning.

Just like every other lefty moron I've ever met, you cry out for the just society for the people.....whom you mistrust and despise to the point you wish overwhelming control of them.

I like Unf though. I'd be willing to go the distance.
I'd say... you give him a couple or four guiness...then bring him hunting with you...set him up in a tree stand with no container to pee in and tell him you'll go and round up some deer for him...and take your time doing it.....
Then you start deprogramming him.....
