I'm in favor of two states, with reasonable land sizes for both parties, with the condition that the dome on the rock is properly disassembled and the Jewish temple is rebuilt in its place. The dome on the rock is Islam's 3rd holiest site, while it is the Jewish 1st holy site, so this seems reasonable to me. If Palestine wanted something in return, lets say cash to get their nation started, I'd be all for that.
And in order for Israel and Palestine to actually have reasonable land size, why can't the surrounding nations give territory to both parties for the greater good of mid east peace?
Yeah....but with the price of gasoline, you'd be breaking the poor Palestinian bank account......burning all those Jewish bodies.
EAO, you really have to deal with reality, and Islam has become radically anti-Jew, to the point of being genocidal. A land of peace love and groovy with a minority Jewish population in what is now Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza is impossible.
If peace isn't possible, that leaves only war. In order for Israel to remain Israel, they must win every battle. In order for the Palestinians to win their freedom, they need only win once. Eventually Israel will loose a future war. The result will be a disaster for everyone in the area. I am not convinced that the powers that be are really friends to the Israeli people.

GENEVA – UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, Richard Falk, has called on Israeli authorities to stop illegally demolishing Palestinian homes in the West Bank, as they are about to forcibly displace 15 families, consisting of 150 Palestinians – including children, by demolishing two apartment buildings in Beit Hanina, East Jerusalem.
“This pattern of eviction, demolition, expansion of settlements, and settlers’ violent expropriation of Palestinian homes in the occupied East Jerusalem violates fundamental human rights, as well as provisions of the Fourth Geneva Convention governing belligerent occupation,” Mr. Falk said describing the development as “particularly disturbing.”
Noting that on Sunday, 6 March 2011, the families were given only 10 days to vacate their homes, the Special Rapporteur said that Israeli authorities often seek to justify demolition of Palestinian homes on the grounds that the owners lack building permits, which are next to impossible for Palestinians to obtain.
“Beyond the immediate dire consequences to individuals and families facing the loss of their homes,” the human rights expert said, “such acts form part of the broader picture of annexation, not as an Israeli legal claim but enacted increasingly as evidence of an Israeli political project.”
Since the beginning of 2011, Israeli authorities have demolished 96 Palestinian structures throughout the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, consisting of 32 homes and other residential structures. As a result, 175 people, more than half of them children, have lost their homes – a sharp increase compared to the same period in 2010 (56 demolitions and 129 people displaced). At the same time, Israeli settlements in the West Bank have continued to expand.

As you can see the scale of individual ethnic cleansing events isn't quite enough to grab the world's attention, but the result is a massive displacement of people and loss of property over time.

UN forum urges international recognition of Palestinian state:
A UN-organized international meeting ended here late Wednesday with calls for countries worldwide to recognize the Palestinian State as a sovereign nation, local media reported Thursday.
A solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict can only be reached with the existence of two States, said a declaration adopted at the end of the meeting.
"Israel and Palestine, both States should coexist in peace and safe conditions. All the international community should recognize the Palestinian State according to its borders of 1967," it said.

Israel is not willing to recognize the Palestinian state:
The Israeli government has warned the U.N. Security Council and the EU that it will resort to unilateral countermeasures if the international community recognizes Palestine as an independent state at the U.N. General Assembly session next September.

"Then Israel launched a pre-emptive attack on Egypt's airforce knowing of the imminent attack by Egypt and Jordan."
Here are two opposing views on how it went down. Personally I find it more than a little odd that the initial attack took place just as soon as Israel had finished practicing that very move, for two years. I go with the UN Observer's view of events.

U.S. plans new push on Arab-Israeli peace
(Reuters) - The United States plans a new push to promote comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Tuesday, suggesting a stronger U.S. hand in trying to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
President Barack Obama will lay out U.S. policy toward the Middle East and North Africa in the coming weeks, Clinton told Arab and U.S. policy makers in a speech that placed particular emphasis on Israeli-Palestinian peace.
Obama's launch of direct Israeli-Palestinian peace talks last year went nowhere and he is under pressure to make a new initiative or face the prospect of the Palestinians seeking the U.N. General Assembly's blessing for a Palestinian state.
"The president will be speaking in greater detail about America's policy in the Middle East and North Africa in the coming weeks," Clinton said at the U.S.-Islamic World Forum, a gathering sponsored by Qatar and the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank.
"America's core interests and values have not changed, including our commitment to promote human rights, resolve long-standing conflicts, counter Iran's threats and defeat al Qaeda and its extremist allies," she added. "This includes renewed pursuit of comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace."
Clinton spoke against the backdrop of the popular revolts that have toppled long-time authoritarian leaders in Tunisia and Egypt this year and spurred public protests in much of the Arab world, including Libya, Bahrain, Syria and Yemen.
"The status quo between Palestinians and Israelis is no more sustainable than the political systems that have crumbled in recent months," she said, saying the only way to meet both people's aspirations was through a two-state solution.
"And while it is a truism that only the parties themselves can make the hard choices for peace, there is no substitute for continued, active American leadership -- and the president and I are committed to that," she added.
