If you think for a moment you may come to understand that very few of us can escape being religious fundamentalists. Rather than the narrow common meanings of those two words we can with ease expand to cover you or me.
As the caterpillar said to Alice, “The question my dear is, who is the master? When I use a word, it means precisely what I want it to mean.”
So no doubt we could alter the meaning of the word Fundamentalist to be applicable to all of us. But why? What is the point in it? Currently the word Fundamentalist means somebody who takes literally what is written in some book (usually a religious book), tries to live that way and tries to get the rest of the world to live that way.
What is wrong with this meaning, why would you alter the meaning to include everybody?
